The Epic Feud: Unraveling the History of 50 Cent and Diddy's Ongoing Beef

Delve into the intense rivalry between hip hop icons 50 Cent and Diddy, where no punches are pulled.

Hip-hop moguls 50 Cent and Sean “Diddy” Combs have a strained relationship.

50 Cent often taunts Diddy on social media, especially after a surveillance video was released by CNN. The video showed Diddy assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, back in 2016.

On Tuesday, 50 Cent took to social media to verify a TMZ report that he has sold a multi-part documentary about Combs' legal issues to Netflix. Combs is facing six civil lawsuits alleging various forms of misconduct, with the most recent one filed on Tuesday.

Additionally, he is under federal investigation by a Department of Homeland Security Investigations team specializing in human trafficking and other offenses, as per a senior federal law enforcement official familiar with the case.

Combs has denied all accusations of misconduct in the past. CNN has contacted 50 Cent and Netflix representatives for their input.

Curious about the feud? Let's take a trip down memory lane to see how the tension between the two individuals developed.

50 Cent released a diss track called "The Bomb" in 2006. The track included sounds of gunfire and accused Combs of knowing who was responsible for the death of Christopher Wallace, also known as The Notorious B.I.G. Wallace was a rapper who was close to both Combs and 50 Cent.

Wallace was shot and killed in Los Angeles in March 1997 while traveling with his crew, including Combs, in a caravan. Combs was in a separate vehicle at the time of the shooting.

To this day, no one has been charged with his murder.

In his diss track, 50 Cent raps about not being invited to the white parties in the Hamptons hosted by Combs.

Additionally, 50 Cent has expressed his belief that Combs may be involved in the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur.

Combs called such allegations “nonsense” in a 2016 interview with the syndicated radio show “The Breakfast Club.” He has never been charged in connection to either case.

Consistent trolling

Fans of 50 Cent know him for his reputation of making sharp comments and trolling on social media.

The rapper, who is now a television producer, frequently targets Combs, criticizing everything from his music to his age.

Some people thought it was mainly about marketing, especially with both men having their own vodka brands at one point - Effen Vodka by 50 Cent and Ciroc by Combs.

However, 50 Cent intensified his remarks following a lawsuit against Combs in November 2023 by Ventura. She had accused Combs of raping her in 2018 and mistreating her during their on-and-off relationship that spanned over a decade. The case has since been settled.

Combs has denied the allegations, but apologized on Sunday for the incident depicted in the surveillance video.

After federal investigators searched Combs’ homes in Miami and Los Angeles in March, 50 Cent took to social media, saying, “Now it’s not Diddy do it, it’s Diddy done. They don’t come like that unless they got a case.”

Diddy denies there’s any conflict or disagreement.

During an appearance on "The Breakfast Club" in 2018, Combs addressed the tension between him and 50 Cent. He stated, "I don't have any issue with Fif. He loves me. Can't you see that he loves me? Do you really think it's hate? You know he loves me."

He mentioned that he doesn't take the comments made by 50 Cent seriously.

To him, it's more amusing than anything else. "I don't really take it to heart. I understand that he has a different sense of humor and we're just not close. We may not see eye to eye, but I won't speak ill of him. That's just not who I am."

Christian Combs, also known as King Combs, is the 26-year-old son of Diddy. Recently, he dropped a new song called “Pick a Side” where he defends his father and calls out critics such as 50 Cent.

The younger Combs and his brother, Justin, were briefly handcuffed and held by authorities during a search at their father's home in March. They were not arrested or charged.

Aaron Dyer, Diddy’s lawyer, expressed to CNN that there was an excessive use of force during the execution of search warrants at Mr. Combs' homes. He stated that the authorities displayed unnecessary aggression and hostility towards his children and employees.

King Combs appeared to profess his father’s innocence in his track and took a swipe at 50 Cent.

“All that gossip sh*t is whack when all they had was 50 Cent / Who put this city on the map? / Stop lying,” the younger Combs raps.

50 Cent responded with a tongue-in-cheek post on social media.

He wrote on Instagram that he feels threatened by Christian's statements on his record. He expressed fear for his safety and pleaded with others not to harm him. According to Billboard, this post has since been deleted.

A TMZ article shared by 50 Cent on Tuesday revealed details about a docuseries project reportedly titled "Diddy Do It?"

“If more victims keep coming out I’m gonna need more episodes,” he wrote.
