Our website: This season delves into a captivating blend of The Shining and House of Cards, with Chucky serving as the focal point. Could you delve into the themes we've explored this season and shed light on the extent of your research pertaining to the White House?

Don Mancini had a long-standing fascination with the White House and its haunted history. He had been researching the topic for a while, originally intending to create something unrelated to the Chucky franchise. However, with each season or movie, they aimed to reinvent the series in a significant way. The White House presented an exciting and fresh setting for Chucky to wreak havoc. Despite the assumed restrictions, it also offered unique opportunities for a maniacal entity like Chucky operating in a position of power.

Furthermore, this choice of location created engaging conflicts and goals for the three teenage protagonists, as they were already familiar with Chucky and desired to eliminate him. Overcoming obstacles became crucial, as gaining access to the most secure house in the world proved much more challenging than trespassing into an ordinary home. It demanded their ingenuity. All these aspects combined to make the concept intriguing and also provided an opportunity to expand the Chucky mythology. To remain captivating and relevant, such expansion was deemed significant.

Having watched the initial four episodes, viewers will gradually discover that there is more happening beyond Chucky's presence in the White House. The true payoff begins in episode five and continues throughout the latter half of the season. This development merges with our own Damballa lore and the opportunity to expand it alongside the presence of ghosts and spirits. The timing felt right, and it allows for intriguing new material in terms of the show's tone. In the latter part of the season, we delve into degrees of surrealism that are unprecedented for us.

You're speaking my language, Don. I admire the way you consistently reinvent this franchise with each season. Interestingly, during the creation of the first Chucky, you were absent due to a strike going on.

Don Mancini: I wasn't present on set due to the WGA strike as I had recently become a member. When the movie started production, I was finally able to join the Writers Guild, but unfortunately, I couldn't participate right away.

Am I mistaken in thinking that Voodoo was not initially intended to be a part of Chucky, but in this season, you fully embrace it in a fantastic manner? How did you all come to that decision?

Don Mancini explained that the concept of Voodoo was introduced by Tom Holland in the first movie when he made changes to the original script. Although it was not initially part of Don Mancini's vision, he acknowledged that fans have a strong affinity for it. Therefore, he and the team decided to fully embrace and explore this aspect. They even incorporated it humorously into the franchise, such as creating a "Voodoo for Dummies" book. However, in recent times, they felt the need to expand their supernatural mythology and delve deeper into the origins of Damballa and the other entities surrounding Chucky. This shift aims to provide more insight into Chucky's existence as a spirit animating an inanimate object, and to introduce additional characters with their own motivations and objectives.

Can you reveal if there are additional legacy characters that haven't made a return yet, but you would like to include in season three or potentially future seasons?

Don Mancini: I don't want to give away any spoilers, but there is a possibility of introducing more legacy characters in the latter half of season three or even in season four. One character I particularly love is Perry Reeves, and I've been discussing the idea of bringing in De Silva. So, there's a chance you might see them at some point.

We also enjoy incorporating actors in different roles for the show. Devon Sawa is a prime example of this. Additionally, Michael Therriault, Lara Jean Chorostecki, and potentially others will be making appearances in the latter half of season three, so stay tuned.

Now, let's discuss Carina Battrick's portrayal of Caroline. She is absolutely phenomenal in this season, exuding a chilling presence. It's almost as if she is the perfect match that Chucky has been seeking all along. Tell me more about Carina's performance as Caroline and the aspects we will be delving into.

Don Mancini: Carina's exceptional talent was the driving force behind my decision. She possesses a remarkable charisma that captivates. However, as you mentioned, I wanted Chucky to have his own offspring, since GG's character ended up being somewhat disappointing for him after deciding against being a serial killer. In season one, we established Chucky's mission to corrupt a child, and I believed it was crucial to see him succeed in that endeavor. I had full confidence in Carina's ability to portray this.

Working with child actors is always fascinating, and I have had the opportunity to collaborate with numerous child actors throughout the years. Witnessing their growth and improvement is truly rewarding. In season one, Carina portrayed a seemingly ordinary and sweet little girl. However, during the shooting of the finale scene outside the movie theater, something unexpected occurred. When the director, Jeff Renfroe, called "action," Carina began to cry uncontrollably, deviating from the script. We were all taken aback, concerned for her well-being. As soon as Jeff yelled "cut," we rushed to her side to ensure she was alright.

As a young performer, she was initially overwhelmed by her role. However, she has now gained full control over her performance. A few months ago, before the strikes, I asked her if she had ever imagined in season one that she would become Chucky's friend until the end. She responded affirmatively, stating that she had been prepared for it.

One aspect of Chucky that I particularly admire is its Halloween episodes. I find them incredible, and this season's episodes are just as impactful. Although I am short on time, I must say that the Halloween episode left me eager for more Chucky. I am eagerly anticipating episodes five and beyond.

Don Mancini: Yeah, I think it's the best Halloween episode yet. Again, directed by Jeff Renfroe, who's amazing.
