Due to the humans' fear of these enchanting creatures, any rebellion against the Exceeds was quickly quelled by Queen Shagotte's dominance. Eventually, the two factions managed to coexist: the Exceeds resided in the skies of Extalia, while humanity settled in the Royal City below. The belief in their own superiority was deeply ingrained in the Exceeds' perception of humans as inferior beings. Nevertheless, dissent concerning this power structure began to take hold among certain individuals in Edolas.
The Kingdom’s Revolt
Since the Exceeds maintained the status quo in Edolas, some humans were dissatisfied with this arrangement. The ruler of the Kingdom, Faust, desired complete control over Edolas and devised a plan to bring about the downfall of Extalia. Faust utilized a device called Anima, which stole magic power from Earthland, to imprison the Fairy Tail guild and its members in a massive lacrima suspended above the Royal City.
The plan involved accelerating the lacrima and crashing it into the floating island of Extalia, resulting in the death of the Exceeds and the termination of their rule over Edolas. The aftermath would trigger a release of magical energy, providing Edolas with an everlasting supply. Team Natsu successfully thwarted the plan by defeating Faust and his Dorma Anim. However, this victory unveiled a startling revelation - the vulnerability of the Exceeds and the true extent of their power.
Lies of the Exceeds
The aftermath of the human revolt unveiled the true essence of the Exceeds, which had been shrouded in deceit and deception by the Exceed elders. Contrary to their angelic facade, the Exceeds are simply feline creatures endowed with the ability to fly. Their strength pales in comparison to that of humans, as their only magical ability is to conjure wings through a spell known as Aera, enabling them to soar through the air.
Due to their previously feeble and frail nature, Exceeds were subject to belittlement and bullying from humans. In order to protect their kind, the Exceed elders devised a cunning scheme to manipulate humans into submitting to them. They propagated false information and fabrications concerning the Exceeds' powers, falsely claiming that they possessed the ability to effortlessly eliminate any human. As a demonstration of their alleged dominance, Queen Shagotte would designate a human, resulting in the unfortunate individual meeting their demise within a matter of seconds.
The Exceeds' Mission on Earthland
Queen Shagotte, however, possessed the remarkable ability to glimpse into the future, enabling her to perceive the ultimate fate of any human being. Recognizing the significance of her gift, the elders bestowed upon her the revered title of Queen and cunningly harnessed her extraordinary powers to instill terror among the human populace. The audacious scheme largely achieved its intended purpose, yet it faltered in its inability to foresee and account for the unexpected response exhibited by those individuals plagued by relentless fear.
The Exceed elders devised a plan to ensure the survival of their species on Earthland, in order to prevent extinction. Upon receiving a vision that depicted the devastating destruction of Extalia by a massive lacrima, Shagotte, one of the elders, initiated a scheme. This involved utilizing Faust's Anima machine to transport a hundred Exceed eggs to Earthland.
The new generation of Exceeds were deceived with the false mission of slaying the Dragon Slayers and bringing them to Edolas for their magical powers. This deception was orchestrated by the Exceed elders who aimed to secure the permission of the Royal City to send their eggs to Earthland, thus ensuring the survival of their species.
When Mystogan reversed the Anima machine to restore magic to Earthland, the Exceeds were also transported alongside the Fairy Tail guild. This was possible due to the inherent magic contained within these beings. Upon arriving in Earthland, the Exceeds discovered a new home within the lush forests of Fiore. Some embarked on a quest to locate the remaining 98 Exceed eggs scattered throughout Earthland.
