There is no scarcity of progressively deadlier villains in the Dragon Ball Z franchise. However, one particular villain surpasses them all in terms of malevolence. Surprisingly, this villain later becomes the greatest hero in Dragon Ball GT.
Majin Buu easily reigns as the most formidable adversary in both the classic and Z eras of the Dragon Ball series. With a history spanning eons and an impact that affects the entire universe, Majin Buu unquestionably surpasses any mortal fighter who dares to challenge him. He even outmatches most deities who attempt to do the same. Against Buu, it took the combined energy of billions of people in a Spirit Bomb to bring him down. However, this only destroyed half of him. In the Majin Buu Saga of Dragon Ball Z, Buu was divided into two halves: a good Buu and an evil Buu. Eventually, these two Buus battled each other, proving to be fairly evenly matched. The evil Buu, also known as Kid Buu, was ultimately eradicated by the Spirit Bomb, leaving only the good Buu who swiftly joined the ranks of the Z-Fighters. However, Kid Buu was destined to return, retaining all his immense power but in a completely different form.
The Evil Kid Buu was Reincarnated as Uub, and Became GT’s Greatest Hero
In Dragon Ball GT episode 38, written by Toshinobu Ooi, directed by Osamu Kasai, and produced by Toei Animation, the intense battle between Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Golden Great Ape Baby-Vegeta reaches a critical point. Goku, exhausted and drained of energy, finds himself struggling against the relentless Baby-Vegeta. To make matters worse, Baby-Vegeta had just been rejuvenated by Bulma's Blutz Wave Generator. It seemed like Goku was on the verge of defeat, and humanity's fate hung in the balance. However, just as Baby-Vegeta was about to deliver the final blow, a sudden and violent transformation occurs within the villain - Uub emerges from within him.
In a previous episode, when Baby-Vegeta was just a threat to the world and the entire universe, Uub bravely confronted him. Using a move reminiscent of his time as Kid Buu, Uub attempted to turn Baby-Vegeta into chocolate with a powerful energy attack. Unfortunately, Baby-Vegeta countered the attack, causing Uub to inadvertently transform into chocolate himself. Seizing this opportunity, Baby-Vegeta consumed Uub, unaware that it was all part of Uub's plan. Now, in this episode, Uub reveals his true purpose - to attack Baby-Vegeta from within, where the villain is defenseless.
Uub demonstrated not only bravery in this saga, but also remarkable intelligence and a tremendous amount of physical power. His strategic maneuver of allowing himself to be consumed in order to execute his plan showcased his courageous nature. Additionally, Uub's actions played a crucial role in saving Goku's life and preventing Baby-Vegeta from seizing control of the universe. As a result, Uub single-handedly rescued every individual in existence. These heroic accomplishments completely overshadow his past as an evil character in Dragon Ball Z, establishing him as the ultimate hero in Dragon Ball GT.
