The anime series A Playthrough of a Certain Dude’s VRMMO Life is based on the original light novel series by Howahowa Shiina and illustrator Yamaada. Originally starting as a web novel in January 2013, Shiina's work was later adapted into a light novel by publisher AlphaPolis in February 2014, featuring Yamaada's illustrations. Currently, both the web novel and light novel formats are still ongoing.
