Episode 16 recap
The 16th episode commenced with several students participating in a kimodameshi, a thrilling tour of the college's most haunted spots. Jasmine St. George also made an appearance, and Violet cautioned her against overexerting herself. Subsequently, the students formed pairs to explore the various locations. Meanwhile, Chise took the opportunity to inquire about Veronica's familial ties with Philomela, as they embarked on the tour. Veronica responded, noting how Philomela appeared to have discovered companionship.
This triggered a flashback to Veronica and Philomela's childhood, when Philomela was unintentionally poisoned while serving as Veronica's food taster. Despite the incident, Veronica chose Philomela as her protector, insisting it was not a request. The flashback concluded by revealing Philomela as the last surviving member of her family, prompting Veronica to inquire about Chise's intentions for Philomela.
Unable to provide an immediate response, Chise and Veronica quickly moved on to the remaining locations. They eventually arrived at the observatory, the final stop on their tour, followed closely by the others. Philomela immediately joined Veronica's side. After watching the movie, the children were caught by Torrey Innis and another teacher. The episode concluded with the revelation that Jasmine was an imposter and Elias asking Chise to meet him at the nurse's office.
What to expect (speculative)
In The Ancient Magus' Bride season 2 episode 17, the real Jasmine will still be in the nurse's office after the imposter participated in the kimodameshi. When Chise arrives at the nurse's office, she will find Jasmine in a dangerous state, resembling Lucy's condition when she was attacked by the Testament of Carnamagos.
Additionally, in this episode, the wolf who serves Lizbeth Sergeant will make a comeback. In the previous episode, she appeared in the final scene. Chise and Elias will once again find themselves in conflict with her, which may reveal Lizbeth's ultimate goal based on who the wolf attacks.
