Terrifying Encounter: AFLW Game in Australia Halted by Venomous Snake on Field!

A venomous snake caused a 30-minute delay in an AFLW game in Australia as players anxiously awaited a snake catcher to safely remove it from the field in Blacktown

The start of an AFLW game in Blacktown, Australia was delayed by half an hour due to the presence of a venomous snake. Players had to wait for a snake catcher to remove the snake from the field. The snake in question was a red-bellied black snake, known to only bite in rare cases, according to the Australian Museum. This occurred before the match between Greater Western Sydney Giants and Richmond Tigers in the AFLW, the women's Australian football league.

According to the AFL, Briana Harvey, the head of women's football for the Giants, described the situation as "quite fascinating." She mentioned that there was currently a small red-bellied black snake on the field, specifically in one of the distant corners. In order to ensure the safety of everyone present, the game needed to be temporarily paused.

Upon the snake catcher's arrival, he promptly grabbed hold of the serpent by its tail, proudly displayed it for the cameras, and placed it inside a secure container for its safe removal from the vicinity of the match.

Following the unforeseen interruption, the Giants suffered their third consecutive defeat of the season, succumbing to a 19-point triumph by Richmond.
