Taylor Tomlinson to Take the Late-Night Stage on CBS, Following Colbert

Stand-up comedian Taylor Tomlinson takes the spotlight as the host of CBS's latest late-night show, After Midnight Following The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Tomlinson brings her wit and charm to entertain audiences in this coveted time slot

Taylor Tomlinson, a stand-up comedian, has been chosen to host CBS' new late-night show "After Midnight." The show will be broadcasted at 12:37 am ET, following "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert." This time slot was previously occupied by James Corden and his show "The Late Late Show," which came to an end in April.

Tomlinson will soon become the sole female host of a late-night network television show, alongside Colbert, NBC's Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, and ABC's Jimmy Kimmel. She made the announcement during her appearance on Colbert's show on Wednesday night.

"I have never had a proper occupation ... I've been pursuing stand-up comedy since the age of 16, which I don't consider as a conventional job," she playfully quipped.

With two comedy specials available on Netflix, the comedian is currently concluding her "Have It All" tour, performing in Florida, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Colbert, the executive producer of the new show, announced Tomlinson as the host. He mentioned that they were looking for someone who is fun, likable, young, connected with online trends, and available every night of the week. Colbert called Tomlinson after his show on Tuesday to inform her that she had secured the position.

Tomlinson, who is 29, jokingly expressed that if someone doesn't know who she is, they shouldn't be concerned as she barely knows herself.

In response to her revelation that she will be turning 30 on Saturday, Colbert quipped, "Happy birthday! I have a network show as your gift."

CBS announced in a news release that "After Midnight" is set to premiere in early 2024. The show draws inspiration from the Comedy Central late-night series, "@midnight with Chris Hardwick," which came to an end in 2017 following a successful four-year stint.
