Taylor Lautner and his wife, Tay Lautner, are enjoying their newlywed bliss, but they are not thinking about having children just yet.

Tay, 27, shared her concerns about raising kids who can speak up for themselves and feel comfortable talking to their parents. She mentioned feeling scared about the challenge of parenting in today's world. Tay expressed her gratitude for people like Dr. Daniel Amen and her friends who have children. She finds it helpful to observe them navigate parenthood and receive support from experts like Dr. Amen in fostering independence in children.

The Lautners, hosts of "The Squeeze" podcast, recently had Amen on as a guest to talk about raising mentally strong children. Taylor, 32, and Tay are both passionate about mental health, which led them to create the Lemons Foundation nonprofit.

Although Taylor and Tay are not in a hurry to have children, it is a goal they have for the future. "At some point, there will definitely be kids," Tay playfully hinted.

The Twilight star and Tay, a registered nurse, first met through Taylor’s sister, Makena Moore. After dating for three years, Taylor popped the question. They tied the knot one year later in November 2022.

Tay shared with Us, “It’s the best. I’m so thankful. He’s a gem. He’s my golden retriever — that’s what I call him. He’s just joy on Earth. We’ve been together for seven years now, so it’s been really cool because we kind of got to go on our mental health journeys together.”

Ever since they got married, Tay has been delighted to see her husband openly talk about his mental health challenges and work towards self-improvement.

She finds it inspiring and it motivates her to strive for personal growth as well. Tay appreciates having a partner who values mental health awareness and is dedicated to personal development. She feels fortunate to be on the same journey in life with someone who shares her passion for helping others.

Tay mentioned that their strong communication skills have been beneficial for both her and Taylor's mental health journeys.

She acknowledged that they have had to work on this aspect of their relationship due to the challenges they have faced together. When asked about their first year of marriage, Tay shared that it has been great because they have already gone through many experiences in life. Through these experiences, they have learned how to effectively communicate with each other. In times of disagreement, they are able to talk things out. Tay mentioned that she takes time to process things, while Taylor is more direct in expressing his thoughts. This understanding helps them navigate conflicts by taking breaks and returning to the conversation later.

The Lautners were at a pickleball tournament in Newport Beach, California on Saturday to promote their mental health advocacy and nonprofit.

Tay mentioned, "We want to raise awareness about brain health and mental health. We're here to play pickleball, enjoy good food, have engaging conversations, and simply have a good time."
