The Disappointing Update
Tatiana Maslany, star of Marvel Studios' She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, has commented on the potential for a second season of the popular MCU legal comedy series. The first season, released in 2022, introduced fans to Jennifer Walters, who, after being exposed to the Hulk's blood, transformed into the more controlled and fourth-wall-breaking She-Hulk. Balancing her new superhero life with her established career as a high-profile lawyer, Jennifer Walters' She-Hulk was a great addition to the MCU's Phase 4. However, the prospect of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 2 may be cast in doubt.

During a Codenames LIVE! - The New Class stream on January 15, 2024, Tatiana Maslany provided an update on the development of a potential season 2. When questioned whether She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 2 can be hoped for, Maslany simply noted 'I don't think so.' While Maslany wasn't giving any official announcement, she suggested that budgetary reasons would make She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 2 undesirable. She-Hulk reportedly had a budget of $225 million, perhaps dissuading Marvel Studios from developing a direct continuation of the series. Maslany expressed, 'I don't think so. I think we blew our budget, and Disney was like, 'No thanks.'

She-Hulk's MCU Future
What does this mean for She-Hulk's future in the MCU? During a 2019 article by The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige revealed that characters such as Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk would next appear in the MCU's theatrical releases after their introductions on Disney+. However, the future of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 2 seems unclear. While a 2021 report from IGN implied She-Hulk could return for season 2, and Jessica Gao revealed plans for a second season, there has been no word on these coming to fruition.
She-Hulk screaming in her season premiere
Even if She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 2 isn't developed, there are still plenty of opportunities for Jennifer Walters to return. She-Hulk is the perfect candidate to become a member of the MCU's New Avengers team, with expectations for her appearance in Avengers 5 and Secret Wars. Walters could also return alongside Mark Ruffalo's Hulk in the heavily-rumored World War Hulk adaptation. With several Hulk-related characters appearing in Captain America: Brave New World, it's possible She-Hulk could join the roster, meaning Maslany's future as the MCU's newest Hulk is looking very bright.
