A sequel to Stallone's superhero film, Samaritan, is reportedly being developed despite receiving negative reviews. The movie, which premiered on Prime Video in August 2022, tells the story of a young boy, portrayed by Javon Walton from Euphoria, who suspects that Sylvester Stallone's character, Joe Smith, is secretly the titular superhero believed to have died years ago. Alongside Stallone and Walton, the cast of Samaritan includes Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, and Moisés Arias.
Now, more than a year after its release, a sequel to Stallone's superhero flick is in the works. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon and MGM are collaborating on the development of a Samaritan sequel, with Stallone set to reprise his role. The deal was finalized before the SAG-AFTRA strike commenced. Bragi F. Schut, the writer of the first film, will also return to pen the script for the sequel.
