Julian Nagelsmann was named Germany's new manager after Hansi Flick was fired earlier this month. The 36-year-old had previously served as the boss of Bayern Munich until earlier this year, when he was succeeded by Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena.
Nagelsmann had a contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2026, but the Bavarians and the German FA have reached an agreement for him to now lead the national team until the European Championships next summer, which will take place in Germany.
Flick, who took over from Joachim Low in August 2021 after working as his assistant from 2006 to 2014, achieved 12 victories in his 25 matches in charge.
During his tenure, the 58-year-old achieved a remarkable feat of securing eight back-to-back victories. However, at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Germany faced disappointment as they were unable to advance from Group E, suffering a loss against Japan, drawing with Spain, and emerging victorious against Costa Rica. In the last year, Flick's team managed to triumph over only two other nations, namely Oman and Peru.

When will Euro 2024 begin?
The final tournament draw will take place in December 2023 at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
The teams will be seeded based on the rankings of the overall European Qualifiers. As hosts, Germany will receive automatic seeding in pot one and will be positioned in A1. The play-off winners, however, will not be determined at the time of the draw, and will thus be placed in pot four.
The opening game of Euro 2024 is June 14, with the final taking place on July 14 at the Olympiastadion, Berlin.
