The formerly Xbox-exclusive game, High on Life, which was also available on Xbox Game Pass from day one, is now unexpectedly accessible on both PS4 and PS5. Developed by Squanch Games, a studio founded by Justin Roiland, the creator of Rick and Morty, High on Life continues to receive support despite Roiland's departure. Squanch Games recently revealed plans to release High on Life DLC called High on Knife, which, based on the released trailers, seems to maintain the original game's crude humor while adding elements of science fiction horror. Only time will tell how fans will react to the release of the High on Life DLC this autumn. In the meantime, PlayStation users can finally experience the base game for themselves.
The PlayStation versions of High on Life were leaked earlier this week, but now they are available for everyone. Players on both PS4 and PS5 now have the opportunity to purchase High on Life for $59.99. The game was unexpectedly released on both platforms on July 22, which is uncommon for PlayStation game releases on Saturdays. Squanch Games unveiled a new trailer to announce the surprise launch of High on Life on PS4 and PS5. The trailer showcases the thrilling first-person shooter gameplay and highlights the impressive voice cast of the game. While the trailer mentions numerous voice talents, Justin Roiland, who voices key characters, is not specifically mentioned.
Roiland faced charges of domestic battery and false imprisonment, but they were later dropped due to lack of evidence. However, additional individuals accused Roiland of inappropriate behavior following the charges, leading to his removal from Rick and Morty, Solar Opposites, and his resignation from Squanch Games. Given these circumstances, it is not surprising that Roiland was not mentioned in the trailer. It will be intriguing to see how Squanch Games proceeds considering their strong association with Roiland and his unique sense of humor. Only time will tell. Nevertheless, PlayStation gamers eagerly awaiting High on Life can now finally enjoy the game on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
