Fan art brings the new version of Hawkgirl from the DC Universe to life, envisioning Isabela Merced as the iconic hero in Superman: Legacy. While the focus of the film will be on Clark Kent, the DC Universe reboot will introduce various Justice League superheroes into the storyline. Just before the SAG-AFTRA strike commenced, DC Studios revealed the addition of four new cast members who will don the costumes in Superman: Legacy.
Among the exciting new superheroes joining Superman: Legacy is Hawkgirl, portrayed by Merced, making her debut in a live-action DC movie. To give fans a glimpse of her appearance as the winged warrior, youssef_defenshi created artwork showcasing Merced's portrayal of Hawkgirl.
Every Superhero Confirmed For Superman: Legacy So Far
Although the specific Hawkgirl version for Superman: Legacy was not specified, the fan art indicates that Merced is likely portraying the iconic Shayera Hol incarnation, who is widely recognized in the DC universe. Regardless, the Hawkgirl fan art demonstrates the monumental task of adapting this visually striking character for the silver screen.
While it remains unclear whether or not Gunn will introduce additional DC heroes in Superman: Legacy, five have already been confirmed at this juncture. The initial one is undoubtedly Superman himself, portrayed by David Corenswet as the newest incarnation of Krypton's final offspring. In this film, Superman will be depicted as a younger version, still grappling with his responsibilities as a burgeoning superhero, while Clark simultaneously navigates his way through the challenges of being a novice journalist.
Merced's portrayal of Hawkgirl is intriguing, especially considering that Black Adam originally had plans for the character. Nathan Fillion, who had previously portrayed Hal Jordan in animation, will now be playing Guy Gardner in Superman: Legacy, adding to the roster of famous Emerald Knights. Edi Gathegi and Anthony Carrigan have also been cast as Mister Terrific and Metamorpho, respectively, with both actors having previous experience in comic book projects. The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike may delay the announcement of further casting for Superman: Legacy, but it is still exciting to see the film expanding the DC Universe with multiple heroes joining Clark's story.
