How to watch Netflix on Quest 2 & 3
Netflix
Watching Netflix on the Quest 2 & 3 is incredibly easy. The popular streaming service has its own app for Quest VR, so all you have to do is download the app for free from the store, log in, and you're good to go.
While you can enjoy the content in your region on your VR, Netflix only offers the content in 480p on Quest 2, 3 and Quest Pro headsets.
How to watch Prime Video on Quest 2 & 3
The VR app from Amazon is accessible for free on the store. Nevertheless, numerous users have expressed dissatisfaction with its performance. To enjoy free content, you can connect your VR app to your Amazon account on your PC/laptop.
You can also log in to your Amazon Prime Video account on the browser, though the content here is limited to 720p only.
How to watch Disney+ on Quest 2 & 3
Disney
Contrary to Amazon Prime and Netflix, Disney+ does not have its own app available on the Oculus store. This might be disappointing for Disney+ subscribers, but they can still access their accounts through the browser and stream content directly. Without a dedicated app, users will have to log in to their accounts on the headset itself, without the option to log in through other devices.
Since Disney has already tested the waters with the immersive Disney Movies VR app, there is a possibility that we might get a native app for Disney+ soon.
Watch YouTube VR on Quest 2 & 3
YouTube offers a dedicated native application in the Oculus store, providing users with access to a wide range of regular and 360-degree content that can be enjoyed on the Quest.
The YouTube VR app should definitely be one of the top apps you install on your Quest.
Watch Hulu, CBS, ESPN, Fandango, Sling, and others on Quest 2 & 3
The app provides an immersive overall experience, allowing you to access high-resolution 360-degree content created by creators from around the world, all for free.
Hulu and CBS do not offer a native VR application, but you can still access your accounts through the browser to enjoy immersive content. Although the experience may not be as seamless as with Netflix or YouTube VR, you can still enjoy your favorite shows. On the other hand, ESPN, Fandango, and Sling offer free native VR apps that can be downloaded and accessed for a seamless viewing experience.
How to watch movies on Quest 2 & 3
Meta
Simply download the free app called Bigscreen on your Quest headset and you can easily view your own media files. With this app, you can cast your PC onto the headset, change viewing environments, and host a watch party with your friends.
To watch the movie or files that you have locally on your system on the VR headset, all you need to do is to:
Connect the Quest to your PC
Locate the Movies folder in the Quest storage on your PC
Paste your video files into the movies folder
Run the app on the Headset
Open Video Player and then click local video files
The files that you just uploaded to your Quest will show up here
Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z fan, I'm thrilled about the possibility of streaming my favorite shows on the Oculus Quest 3 & 2. The idea of immersing myself in virtual reality while watching Netflix, Prime Video, and other streaming services is incredibly exciting. The ability to virtually place myself in a private home theater and enjoy content in a whole new way is something I can't wait to experience.
However, I do have some concerns about the current state of streaming apps on the Meta Quest platform. The lack of dedicated apps for Disney+ and the limited resolution of content on Netflix and Prime Video are disappointing. I hope that Meta and the streaming services will continue to improve their offerings and provide users with a more immersive and high-quality viewing experience in the future.
