Starfield's Scow: A Revolutionary Triumph That Will Leave You Breathless

Starfield's Scow: A colossal ship encountered in the open world sci-fi RPG that fails to capitalize on its potential, leaving players yearning for more from this missed opportunity

Highlights

The Scow in Starfield is a missed opportunity.

The mission featuring The Scow lacks thrilling plot twists or thrilling discoveries, resulting in a disappointing payoff. Additionally, the inability to successfully steal the unique ship in Starfield adds to the overall letdown, making it one of the game's most significant disappointments.

Starfield's The Scow is a missed opportunity within the game. Throughout the main quest, players explore various intriguing planets and ships inhabited by fascinating characters. The Scow initially seems like a captivating location, especially during the No Sudden Moves mission. However, as the mission progresses, players begin to realize that The Scow and its associated storyline ultimately disappoint.

Despite Petrov being an experienced collector who has traveled across the vastness of the cosmos in search of valuable artifacts, The Scow disappointingly lacks any particularly captivating discoveries. While there are a few items encased behind glass, as well as sporadic historical relics from Earth, the ship's overall collection seems rather mundane. Admittedly, The Scow does boast a unique assault rifle, but those who embark on a thorough exploration in hopes of stumbling upon truly fascinating Easter eggs are likely to leave disheartened. Unless, of course, there is a significant discovery that eluded our meticulous search.

Starfield's Scow: A Revolutionary Triumph That Will Leave You Breathless

The Scow in Starfield is a missed opportunity for several reasons. Firstly, the No Sudden Moves mission lacks a satisfying payoff after a lengthy set-up. Although players travel to The Scow to retrieve an important artifact necessary for progressing through the main quest, the quest itself lacks exciting surprises or unexpected twists. Despite its initial promise, the quest ultimately fails to deliver anything particularly engaging, leading to a predictable climax.

Furthermore, one of the most disappointing aspects of The Scow is that it appears to be an exception to the rule of being able to steal ships in Starfield. While players can typically hijack other ships they come across, The Scow cannot be added to their fleet. This is particularly disheartening considering the ship's uniqueness. Combined with the lack of interesting items in Petrov's collection, the inability to acquire The Scow further contributes to it being one of the major letdowns in Starfield.
