How to Recruit New Crew Members in Starfield

Players can unlock various Constellation companions as they progress through the main story missions of Starfield. Additionally, they have the opportunity to recruit crew members from bars and nightclubs scattered throughout the game's universe. These crew members possess specialized skills related to different aspects of spaceship operations and can usually be found loitering near the bar area of their respective establishments. The Astral Lounge in Neon proves to be an excellent location for hiring fresh crew members, typically offering three to four available recruits during each visit.

To recruit a new crew member in Starfield, players can approach any of these non-player characters (NPCs) and inquire about their rates. However, rather than agreeing right away, players are advised to negotiate with them. Successfully employing the Persuasion skill will typically lead to a remarkable 50% reduction in their wage demands. Therefore, those aiming to expand their crew should prioritize unlocking and upgrading the Persuasion skill from Starfield's Social skill tree.

In addition to NPCs found in bars and clubs, players have the option to enlist the services of the Adoring Fan at one of their ships or outposts. However, this privilege is exclusive to those who have selected the Hero Worshipped Trait at the onset of the game, and it does come with its own set of drawbacks. The most notable inconvenience is that the Adoring Fan can be excessively bothersome, continuously babbling nonsensical remarks whenever they are in the player's vicinity.
