Starfield Patch Introduces DLSS Compatibility, Resolves Nude NPC Issue, and Allows Direct Consumption of Food

Starfield's latest patch, released on November 20th, brings exciting updates including DLSS support, fixes for naked NPCs, and the highly anticipated ability to eat food without having to pick it up

Bethesda has released a new update for its science fiction RPG Starfield. The patch includes significant features, such as the addition of Nvidia DLSS support for PC players and the ability to consume food and beverages found in the game world without physically picking them up.

Previously, this patch was accessible to Steam testers. However, it is now available to all players on PC and Xbox. With the introduction of Nvidia DLSS support, players who possess compatible Nvidia graphics cards can take advantage of features like DLSS super resolution, deep learning anti-aliasing, Nvidia Reflex, and frame generation. These features enhance gameplay by providing smoother and higher frame rates without compromising image quality.

Regarding food improvement, Bethesda announced that they are implementing a change that fans have been requesting. In a blog post, they stated, "As per popular demand, we have now included the ability to consume food and beverages as soon as they are discovered in the environment. You have the option to either enjoy them immediately or save them for later. The decision is entirely up to you."

In addition to these adjustments, the November 20 update improves stealth mechanics by making them slightly more forgiving. It also resolves various bugs, such as the issue where Andreja's head remained hidden and certain players' weapons were unable to fire. Furthermore, the patch addresses a problem where certain non-playable characters would appear without clothing.

Additionally, the update includes several mission-specific improvements. In the All That Money Can Buy quest, a rare issue that prevented players from sitting down has been resolved. Furthermore, in the Operation Starseed mission, there was an occasional occurrence where the required key to exit a room would not appear. However, this issue has been rectified and players should now be able to find the key as needed.

Resolved an issue where skill challenges that were already in progress could unexpectedly halt their progression upon reaching the Unity and commencing a new game.

Addressed a temporary issue that could hinder the ability to open the inventory or save after entering the Unity.

PC: Fixed an issue where mouse movement could be choppy.

Fixed a rare issue that could cause the home ship to be lost.

The ship services technician issue has been resolved.

The occasional incorrect shaking of the camera during Traveling, Grav Jumping, Docking, or Landing transitions has been fixed.

Addressed an issue with how ambient occlusion appeared in ultrawide resolutions.

Optimized initial shader compilation that occurs on start-up.

Added the ability to adjust Brightness and Contrast in the Display Settings menu.

Improved HDR Brightness adjustment is now available, provided that the system is compatible (Xbox & Windows 11 exclusive).

Resolved the issue causing certain materials to occasionally display unintended patterns under specific circumstances.

Fixed various visual issues related to the new FOV slider options.

Improved the appearance of the eyes on crowd characters.

All That Money Can Buy: Fixed a rare issue where players couldn’t sit during the negotiation with Musgrove.

Blast Zone: Corrected a problem with the absence of hard rocks on Ngodup Tate's property that players are required to clear.

Echoes of the Past: Resolved an issue where players occasionally encountered difficulty in reaching the Grylloba Queen during the "Secure the Shuttle Bay" objective.

Eye of the Storm: Resolved a problem that could hinder players' quest advancement by correcting a missing docking prompt.

Grunt Work: Fixed an issue where progress could seem obstructed if "Supra et Ultra" was finished while heading back to the Lodge during "High Price to Pay".

Fixed a bug that previously caused the entrance door to the Scow ship from becoming unopenable.

Resolved an issue in Operation Starseed where, occasionally, the required key to exit the facility would not be available.

Sabotage: Fixed an issue where David Barron could potentially not be found by players.

Short Sighted: Fixed an issue where players could rarely become control-locked while speaking with Vladimir.

The Heart of Mars: Fixed an issue where players might not be able to mine the “The Heart of Mars”.
