Starfield: Master the Art of Lightning-Fast Spacesuit and Helmet Removal!

Automatically shed your spacesuit and helmet in Starfield settlements with ease Discover the ultimate guide to effortlessly removing protective gear when conditions permit

In the epic space adventure of Starfield, players will discover countless diverse settlements and environments with varying atmospheres. With over 1,000 planets to explore in Bethesda's space exploration IP, the protagonist must adapt to different conditions by using their spacesuit.

For those who prefer third-person mode, it can be awkward to see their character wearing a full spacesuit in cities or areas where humans can breathe comfortably. To avoid drawing attention in Starfield, here is a helpful guide on automatically unequipping your spacesuit and helmet when they are not required.

How To Automatically Remove Spacesuits And Helmets

When players enter human settlements like New Atlantis, they may notice that their character stands out because they are still wearing their spacesuit while exploring stores and interacting with NPCs. While this may be amusing at the beginning of the game, it can break player immersion because it doesn't look realistic, especially in places like Akila City. Luckily, there is a simple solution for this issue, both for spacesuits and oxygen-giving helmets needed in unbreathable atmospheres.

To resolve this, players should go to the Starfield Inventory menu and visit the spacesuit and helmet sections. Here, they can adjust the game settings to have their character remove the protective gear when it's not necessary. This can be done quickly by pressing the designated button at the bottom of the screen in the spacesuit or helmet menu. On Xbox, this button is RB by default, unless the player has customized their controller mapping. This command can be easily turned on or off. Once the setting is changed, it will take effect immediately, and the character will blend better into their surroundings.

The change is mainly superficial and does not affect the player's ability to interact with NPCs or accomplish quests in settlements. Interestingly, non-playable characters in Starfield hardly acknowledge the player wearing a full spacesuit and helmet in breathable environments.

Starfield is currently accessible on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
