Spoiler Alert! This guide contains significant spoilers for the conclusion of Starfield!
The entirety of Starfield's main storyline builds up to a crucial moment in "One Giant Leap." Following intense battles in "Revelation," players will utilize the last components of the overarching puzzle presented by the Artifacts. They will then enter Starfield's ultimate location, which offers a considerably serene experience. It is here that players will confront the pivotal choice that concludes the game.
How to Start One Giant Leap in Starfield
"One Giant Leap" provides players with a seemingly uncomplicated mission, yet it prompts deep contemplation. As such, it serves as an excellent culmination of the narrative Bethesda aims to convey. This guide will lead players step by step through the process of constructing the Armillary, reaching the Unity, and making the crucial decision when the time arises. The mission "One Giant Leap" seamlessly continues right after the penultimate Starfield mission, "Revelation," with no noticeable break in between. Once the player exits the Buried Temple, they will instantly receive the rewards from "Revelation" and embark on "One Giant Leap" without delay.
How to Reach the Unity in Starfield
Players should create a save point at the beginning of this mission as there will be a crucial decision later that could have significant consequences for their current universe. It's advisable to have the option of returning to this point.
The Unity represents the ultimate goal in Starfield that players have been working towards. At an earlier point in the game, players will start constructing the Armillary at their chosen destination. If the Armillary was built on their ship, they will be fully prepared to proceed. However, if players constructed the Armillary at an outpost of their choosing, they will need to retrieve the Artifacts in order to continue.
Upon acquiring all the fragments of the Artifacts, players will be presented with the opportunity to construct the entire Armillary on their vessel. Once accomplished, a textual notification will emerge, informing them about their upcoming Grav Jump.
Key Mission Objective: Build the Armillary on Your Ship
Optional Mission Objective: Talk to Your Friends Before You Leave
Players can speak with each member of Constellation before they depart. It is important to note that any member of Constellation currently on board your ship will be heading to the Unity when the player leaves. This will become relevant later if specific conditions are met.
To construct the Armillary, navigate to the appropriate section of the ship. The location of the panel may vary depending on the ship, but it is commonly found in the cockpit. Look for a small screen displaying swirling Artifacts. Approach this area and interact with the screen. If the player has already constructed the Armillary on their ship, they will have the option to 'Add Artifacts.' If they are constructing it for the first time, they will encounter the option 'Build Armillary.'
Once the Armillary is built, a message will pop up explaining how the jump to the Unity will work. All it will take is a single Grav Jump with the Armillary built.
Once the Armillary has been constructed, performing a single Grav Jump will transport the player directly to the Unity. In the event that players prefer to wait, it is recommended to dismantle the Armillary and complete any pending tasks before rebuilding it when they are prepared to depart.
Visiting the Unity
As players activate the Grav Drive, they will initiate their journey towards the Unity. Throughout this extended manipulation of space, the ship's prominent Armillary serves as a clear guide, leading the player towards their ultimate destination. Once they arrive, they will be greeted by a familiar figure.
In the presence of the vast universe, individuals will encounter their own reflection - or at least their virtual avatar, providing them with the chance to explore the concept of Unity, the significance of being Starborn, and the true extent of their choices. A plethora of subjects awaits the player's exploration, but it is prudent to leave them undisclosed here.
When it comes to Starfield, players are presented with two options: moving forward, venturing into the very core of the Unity, and embarking on a brand new universe, or returning to the universe they originated from. Making this decision can be quite challenging, requiring players to thoroughly contemplate their desires. The Unity itself provides a brief glimpse of the fate that awaits the universe left behind, in the event of their departure.
Upon entering Unity, players will be treated to a brief cutscene followed by the rolling of credits. This exciting sequence seamlessly transitions into Starfield's highly anticipated New Game Plus feature, the intricacies of which are best experienced firsthand by players themselves. It is important to note that only skills and XP will carry over, so if players still have unfulfilled aspirations within the current universe, it is advisable to exit Unity and rebuild the Armillary when they feel truly prepared to progress further.
