Exciting news for Star Trek fans! A highly anticipated origin story film and a thrilling fourth installment of the reboot series are reportedly in the works Get ready to embark on a new intergalactic adventure under the direction of a renowned Star Wars director

The director of the Star Wars TV series Andor is reportedly working on a new Star Trek movie as part of Paramount's efforts to expand the Star Trek film universe. According to Deadline, Toby Haynes has been hired to direct the film, which will explore new aspects of the Star Trek universe. The script is being written by Seth Grahame-Smith, known for his work on The Lego Batman Movie and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The movie will be produced by J.J. Abrams' company Bad Robot.

The new Star Trek movie is described as an "origin story" set decades before the 2009 Star Trek reboot with Chris Pine as Captain Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock, according to Deadline. Paramount is also working on the fourth movie in the reboot series. In addition to 2016's Star Trek Beyond, the franchise has expanded with TV shows such as Picard and Strange New Worlds.

The 2009 Star Trek reboot and its 2013 sequel, Into Darkness, were helmed by Abrams before he passed the directing baton to Justin Lin for Star Trek Beyond. Together, the three films raked in approximately $1.2 billion at the global box office.

Alongside Pine and Quinto, the ensemble cast included Simon Pegg as Scotty, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Karl Urban as Dr. McCoy, John Cho as Sulu, and Anton Yelchin as Chekov. Tragically, Yelchin passed away in 2016 at the young age of 27 due to a fatal motor vehicle accident in his own driveway.

As a lifelong Star Trek fan, I am thrilled to hear that a new Star Trek movie is in the works, and even more excited that it will be directed by Toby Haynes, the director of the Star Wars TV series Andor. Haynes has a proven track record of creating visually stunning and emotionally engaging science fiction content, and I have no doubt that he will bring the same level of excellence to the Star Trek franchise.

The news of an origin story set decades before the 2009 Star Trek reboot has me particularly intrigued. I am eager to learn more about the early days of the Federation and the iconic characters that we have come to know and love. The potential for exploration and character development is immense, and I am confident that Haynes and his team will deliver a film that will captivate audiences of all ages.
