Bryn Apprill has been chosen to temporarily replace Megan Shipman as the English voice actor for Anya Forger in Season 2 of Spy x Family. The official English dub X account of Spy x Family announced on Oct. 26 that Apprill will be taking on the role while Shipman is on maternity leave. @18moptop, Shipman's X handle, retweeted the announcement and expressed gratitude to Apprill and the rest of the English voice acting team for their support in organizing her temporary absence. Shipman also expressed excitement for her upcoming experience of motherhood.
Bryn Apprill, known for her roles in iconic anime series, shines in various characters. In Attack on Titan, she flawlessly portrays Christa Renz/Historia Reiss in the English dub. Additionally, she captivates audiences as Nagisa Kashiwagi in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War and Ibara Shiozaki in My Hero Academia. Apart from her standout role as Anya Forger, Apprill also impresses with her performances as Norea Du Noc in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury and Mare Bella Fiore in Overlord.
The much-awaited second season of Spy x Family debuted on Oct. 7, transporting viewers back to the delightfully peculiar world of the Forger family. Drawing inspiration from Tatsuya Endo's acclaimed manga, Spy x Family centers around Secret Agent Twilight's elaborate plan to infiltrate the prestigious Elite Eden Academy and gain proximity to Donovan Desmond, the enigmatic prime minister of a neighboring nation, all in the name of global harmony. Twilight assumes the role of a husband, Yor Forger, and adopts a young girl named Anya, who he enrolls in the highly-regarded academy. Little does Twilight know, Yor is actually a skilled assassin, and Anya possesses the ability to understand his innermost thoughts. Despite encounters with misunderstandings and complications, this unconventional trio forges a genuine familial connection.
Season 2 of Spy x Family will have fewer episodes than the previous installment, but the franchise has two other exciting projects in the works. The first is an animated film called Spy x Family: Code White, which tells an original side-story where the Forger Family embarks on a mission to obtain a special dessert for Anya's headmaster. Along the way, Anya unintentionally triggers a series of events that could reignite the conflict between Westalis and Ostania. The film is set to premiere in Japan on December 22nd. Additionally, there is an upcoming video game called SPY X ANYA: Operation Memories, where players can experience a life-simulation as Anya, participating in various activities at home and school. The game is scheduled for release in 2024 outside of Japan.
For those interested, the Spy x Family anime can be streamed on Hulu and Crunchyroll, while the manga is available in English through VIZ Media.
