Underrated DS horror game, Dementium: The Ward, is coming to Nintendo Switch for Halloween, giving horror fans a chance to experience its survival-horror gameplay.
The Switch gamers seeking a horror experience this Halloween should consider the faithfully recreated original game. If the Switch version of Dementium: The Ward receives a positive response, there is a chance that the sequel, Dementium 2, could also be introduced to the Switch library. This would offer fans more underrated DS games on the console.
Just in time for Halloween, the underrated horror game Dementium: The Ward for the Nintendo DS is making its way to the Nintendo Switch. Originally released in 2007, it received mixed reviews from critics but garnered a loyal following among horror fans who appreciated its first-person survival-horror gameplay and innovative use of the Nintendo DS' unique features.
The success of Dementium: The Ward led to the creation of a sequel, Dementium 2, which was released a few years later and received a more positive reception than its predecessor. The original game was later remastered for the Nintendo 3DS, and Dementium 2 was made available on PC. Now, fans of horror games who missed out on these titles will have the opportunity to experience the first installment in the series on the Nintendo Switch.
Arriving on the Nintendo Switch on October 12, Dementium: The Ward is an eagerly anticipated release for horror game enthusiasts. With its faithful recreation of the original DS game, players can expect a nostalgic experience with upgraded visuals. As Halloween approaches, Nintendo Switch users looking for a new horror game should definitely consider giving it a try on October 12.
If Dementium: The Ward performs well on the Switch, there is hope that Dementium 2 may also make its way to Nintendo's versatile console. It would be a fantastic opportunity to revive some of the underrated DS games on the Switch, especially considering the strong reviews of Dementium 2. Its success on the Switch would make it a great addition to the console's library.
In addition to Dementium: The Ward, the Nintendo Switch will see the release of several other horror games in October. The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope arrives on October 5, followed by Sunshine Manor on October 6, Haunted House on October 12, World of Horror on October 19, Slay the Princess on October 20, and Stray Souls on October 31. With such a variety of options, Nintendo Switch gamers will have plenty of horror games to choose from next month. It would also be fantastic to see the Nintendo Switch port some of the other DS games developed by Renegade Kid, who unfortunately are no longer in operation. A great candidate for a port would be the 2009 first-person shooter Moon, which, like Dementium, received mixed reviews but still developed a dedicated fanbase. While Moon was released as a digital-only version on the 3DS, it is no longer available since the closure of the 3DS eShop.
Dementium: The Ward is available for DS and 3DS with a Switch version launching October 12.
