Spine-Chilling Classic Returns: Beloved 16-Bit Survival Horror Game Makes a Thrilling Comeback on Modern Consoles!

A highly anticipated remake of an iconic 16-bit survival horror game, known for its pivotal role in shaping the genre, is set to hit modern consoles Get ready to experience the chilling nostalgia and intense gameplay that made this Super Nintendo classic a true legend

WayForward Technologies, known for developing popular games like the Shantae series, recently announced an exciting remake/enhanced port of the legendary survival horror game, Clock Tower. Originally created by Human Entertainment, Clock Tower is widely regarded as the pioneering title in the survival horror genre. Now, thanks to WayForward, fans of the genre can experience this classic game on modern consoles.

Survival horror is a genre that has a rich history of influential titles that are often cherished for their originality, rather than their replay value in today's gaming landscape. Games such as the original Resident Evil and Silent Hill may not have the same impact in 2023 as they did in the '90s. Clock Tower is another classic survival horror game that has aged less gracefully, but its return brings hope that many of its rough edges will be refined.

The developer WayForward recently made an exciting announcement about the return of Clock Tower. They released a video showcasing the challenges of bringing this game to new platforms, along with some new additions that fans of the survival horror genre will appreciate. Fortunately, Clock Tower will be available on all consoles, with an expected release date in early 2024.

This marks the first official release of the original Clock Tower outside of Japan. Until now, fans who discovered the series through its sequels in the West could only play the original game through unofficial fan translations and emulators. It's been long overdue for an official port, especially one that updates some outdated features, and it's thrilling to see it finally happening after over 25 years since its initial release.

Human Entertainment, the development studio responsible for creating all Clock Tower games in the series, with the exception of the third installment produced by Capcom and Sunsoft, filed for bankruptcy in 2000. Unfortunately, this led to the discontinuation of game development for the franchise. While it remains uncertain if any original team members will collaborate with WayForward, the current team working on the game for modern audiences, it is worth noting that key developer Suda51, who was part of the original team, has since moved on to creating successful titles like the No More Heroes series. With the upcoming release, Clock Tower aims to captivate a whole new generation of gamers. The game is expected to launch in early 2024 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch.
