Chaos erupted during a pre-season match in the northeast on Friday evening when men wearing balaclavas drove a hearse onto the pitch, while simultaneously throwing leaflets. At the UTS Stadium, Dunston and Gateshead were tied 1-1 at halftime when, approximately at 8.20pm, the hearse and a Subaru made their unexpected entrance onto the field.
The vehicles circled around the pitch, skidding in a dynamic fashion, while occupants distributed leaflets from within.
Afterwards, the individuals donning balaclavas exited the hearse and boarded the Subaru, proceeding to depart from the stadium.
They left the hearse on the pitch.
Gateshead FC tweeted: "Due to an incident on the pitch occurring shortly after half-time, tonight's match has been abandoned by the referee."
