Sony has opened pre-orders for the Deep Earth Collection, offering new colors for PS5 controllers and console covers, including Sterling Silver, Volcanic Red, and Cobalt Blue.
Fans have eagerly awaited new color choices, but some believe Sony can further expand its range. The newly introduced colors exude a sophisticated and organic aesthetic, offering a more understated customization alternative when compared to the previous artistic patterns.
Sony is now accepting pre-orders for the upcoming Deep Earth Collection, which includes PS5 controllers and console covers in the colors Sterling Silver, Volcanic Red, and Cobalt Blue. The company has a history of regularly introducing new designs for its controllers and consoles. Previously, it was announced that Sony would release new colors for its controllers and console covers in late 2023 to early 2024. Many gamers were eagerly awaiting more information about the release and were excited to acquire these items. Personalizing consoles has become a popular trend among modern gamers, as gaming companies now offer more official and commercially available options. While Sony has been proactive in announcing custom palettes and designs for its consoles, users still feel that the company could offer even more choices. Fans have even suggested custom colors they would like to see Sony provide for the PS5, hoping that their wishes will be granted. Nonetheless, a new range of color selections will soon be available for purchase.
According to the PlayStation Blog, pre-orders are now open for PS5's Deep Earth Collection. This collection offers a variety of new colors for both DualSense controllers and console covers. Gamers located in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal can take advantage of this offer through the PlayStation store and select retailers. Additionally, some global markets will have limited availability for pre-orders on the same day. The available colors for pre-order include Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver. As mentioned in the report, Volcanic Red and Cobalt Blue will be released first on November 3, followed by the launch of Sterling Silver on January 26.
The new colors have a simple yet sleek appearance. They offer a metallic sheen and are not excessively flashy like some other designs. While they may not be as artistic as the previously released LeBron James PS5 custom controller and cover, or the Japan-exclusive limited edition Final Fantasy 16 designs, they do provide a more natural look for the console and its accessories.
These options represent only a small portion of the fully customizable colors available. However, for those who are still unsatisfied with the choices, there is the possibility of personalization, much like the player who customized their PS5 with a photo of their dad. The detachable PS5 covers allow gamers to easily create their own designs and artwork without needing to completely disassemble the console. Nevertheless, purchasing new official colors remains the most convenient option for many. Hopefully, Sony will release more colors in the future.
