New court documents have uncovered that Ali Krieger also filed for divorce, not just Ashlyn Harris. The surprising twist in their public separation reveals that Krieger secretly initiated the divorce process almost three months after Harris started it in a different state.

According to exclusive court records obtained by We, Krieger, who is 39 years old, filed for divorce in New Jersey on December 1, 2023, to end her four-year marriage. She claimed that Harris had inaccurately filed for divorce in Florida.

Krieger mentioned in her documents that she and her partner, who have two children together, got married on December 28, 2019, in Miami. They currently reside in the Garden State.

According to the court papers, the reason for the divorce is stated as "irreconcilable differences" with no chance of reconciliation.

The retired soccer champion is seeking a custody arrangement that prioritizes the well-being of their two children. She is also asking for a fair division of assets and liabilities, as well as child support and legal fee payments from Harris.

Harris, who is 38 years old, filed for divorce from Krieger in Seminole County, Florida on September 19, 2023. In documents obtained by Us, Harris stated that their marriage was "irretrievably broken."

Additionally, Harris mentioned that the ex-couple, who had been together for 13 years, plan to enter into a marital settlement agreement to address financial matters. They also plan to sign a parenting plan to resolve any child-related issues.

Krieger’s attorney has not yet responded to We's request for comment. Harris' lawyer also did not provide any comment.

In a January interview with Self magazine, Krieger shared that she will always remember the moment when she found out about Harris filing for divorce while she was training with her former team, NJ/NY Gotham FC.

Krieger shared that she found out at training while she was on the field. She then came off the field, went to the locker room, and felt devastated. Her entire team came over for a dance party the night the news broke.

Upon hearing the news, she canceled a press conference scheduled for that afternoon and decided to head home to process and come to terms with what had happened.

Krieger shared, "Then my teammates started walking through the door, one by one, until 2 in the morning. We hung out, danced, and played music from YouTube. We sat in the playroom and kitchen, enjoying each other's company. They brought wine, flowers, and just themselves."

Following the divorce news, Harris revealed in a statement that they had kept their breakup private because they were advised by agents, representation, and friends to wait until Krieger's retirement from soccer in November 2023.

Several weeks ago, a private process that had been ongoing for some time became public. After nearly 13 years of friendship, teamwork, marriage, and co-parenting, the decision to end the relationship was not taken lightly, as mentioned by Harris in a heartfelt Instagram post a month after the divorce news broke. The focus was on putting their children first, continuing therapy, separating, and moving forward with their lives.

Harris addressed rumors of infidelity following reports of her dating actress Sophia Bush. She clarified that not all marriages last forever, including theirs, for various reasons. Harris emphasized that she remained faithful throughout her marriage, even though she may not have always been completely content.

Bush and Harris made their relationship public on Instagram in April, but they have actually been dating since last fall. This was shortly after both of them had filed for divorce from their previous spouses. Bush was previously married to Grant Hughes.
