Two passengers and a pilot were safe after a small plane had to make an emergency landing without landing gear due to a mechanical issue at Newcastle Airport in Australia’s New South Wales.
The aircraft, a Beach B-200 Super King, flew around the airport for a few hours to use up fuel before successfully landing without its wheels, according to CNN affiliate Nine News.
The video captured the plane landing on the runway without its landing gear deployed, causing it to skid until it came to a stop.
Emergency response vehicles were ready and visible in the video, rushing to help the plane.
Superintendent Wayne Humphrey from the NSW police commended the 53-year-old pilot for making a successful landing. He mentioned that no one was hurt in the incident and all the passengers were able to drive home safely, according to Nine News.
Humphrey was quoted saying, "It was a great outcome, the pilot did a fantastic job. I could hear him on the radio, he sounded very composed."
The plane circled the airport for a few hours to use up fuel.
In the control room, there were cheers and applause when the plane landed safely, according to Humphrey.
The plane had been scheduled to make a 26-minute flight from Newcastle to Port Macquarie, about 400 kilometers (248 miles) north of Sydney.
