The Umbral realm in Lords of the Fallen is more than a mere gimmick. It possesses its own unique set of pathways, encounters, and regulations that give it the feel of a separate dimension. Prolonged stays in this realm boost the Vigor obtained from defeating enemies, but it also attracts the attention of savage grim reapers who relentlessly pursue intruders.
In Lords of the Fallen, the reapers are known for their persistence and deadly skills. The optimal strategy when encountering one is to flee, although the most courageous Dark Crusaders may find potential rewards if they decide to confront them head-on.
Can You Kill Red Reapers in Lords of the Fallen?

Yes, killing a red reaper is incredibly challenging. These formidable foes, also known as Scarlet Shadows, have formidable health and can inflict devastating damage with their attacks. Compounding the difficulty is the fact that players' Sanguinatrix, a vital healing tool, becomes disabled in the presence of a reaper, severely limiting effective healing options for most players.
Nevertheless, it is not impossible to defeat a reaper. Surprisingly, players do not require top-tier equipment or assistance to bring one down. The most effective strategy is to lure the reaper towards a chasm and utilize Soulflay, a powerful ability that instantly eradicates them. However, executing this maneuver is no easy task, as reapers are highly aggressive and prone to disappearing into the ground.
The timing for Soulflay can initially prove challenging because the Umbral Lamp requires a few seconds to attach itself to a target. To effectively execute Soulflay on a reaper, patiently await one of its formidable maneuvers or extended attack sequences. Swiftly evade or sprint away from the impending threat, seizing the opportune moment to unleash Soulflay. This tactical approach thrives in locations abundant with substantial vertical descents, such as Pilgrim's Perch and Revelation Depths.
Defeating a Scarlet Shadow will reward players with a generous amount of Vigor and five Umbral Scourings, serving as a renewable source for the latter. Typically, Umbral Scourings are acquired through Soulflaying memories within the Umbral realm, where each memory yields only two Scourings. However, when defeating a Reaper, players will receive five Umbral Scourings without fail. These Reapers respawn approximately every five minutes.
To effectively employ the grim reaper cheese strategy, head to the platforms just outside the Vestige of Blind Agatha in the Pilgrim's Perch Bellroom, after passing the Ardent Penitent. By navigating the spine bridge and the wooden beams to the right of the Vestige tunnel's exit, players can lure the Reapers to the edge of the platform.
Lords of the Fallen is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
