Executive producers David Hoge and Dan Cross shared their plans for the second season of the show amidst the anticipation of whether it would be canceled or renewed. They revealed that the ghosts would have a busy storyline, as they have always desired to share their music with the world and establish a strong connection with their audience. Achieving a number one album or having a chart-topping song is their goal in order to be remembered for their musical talents. However, despite their aspirations, there are still numerous obstacles that they need to overcome, with a new obstacle emerging within their inner circle, as hinted at in the final moments of the season.
After two months, executive producer Kenny Ortega announced on Instagram that Netflix has decided to cancel the series, "Julie and the Phantoms." Ortega expressed his gratitude to the fans worldwide for their incredible love and support since the show's premiere. He also acknowledged the news of Netflix not renewing the series for another season, sharing that while their hearts are saddened, they are proud of the achievements and the close-knit bond they formed while working on "Julie."
One month after its release, Daybreak co-creator Aron Coleite announced that the series would not be returning. In December 2019, he expressed gratitude to the viewers, saying, "Thank you for embracing our unique, unconventional show and being an integral part of our journey. At Daybreak, we don't just say 'I love you,' we say 'you're a s--t.' We encourage you to embrace your inner monsters and give it your all. Most importantly, continue to be yourselves. We are deeply saddened that we can't continue this adventure together, but we are incredibly thankful for having brought it this far. Thank you for joining us, for your voices, your enthusiasm, your memes, your humor, and your unabashed craziness. We'll see you out there."

Netflix has brought us a multitude of distinctive TV shows throughout the years. However, not all of their original series have the opportunity to delve into their story beyond a single season before being cancelled.
One such example is Julie and the Phantoms, which garnered a devoted fan base upon its release on the streaming platform in September 2020. This musical comedy, adapted from the Brazilian TV series Julie e os Fantasmas, centers around a high school student who inadvertently summons the spirits of three deceased musicians. These characters unite in order to assist one another in achieving their ambitions and resolving their lingering affairs.
Executive producers David Hoge and Dan Cross revealed their existing ideas for the show's second season while fans anxiously awaited news of its cancellation or renewal. In an interview with TVLine in September 2021, Hoge and Cross expressed the ghost characters' desire to share their music with the world and establish a meaningful connection with their audience. As Luke always emphasizes, they aspire to achieve recognition for their music, whether it be a top-charting album or a hit song. However, as evident from the season's conclusion, numerous challenges hinder their progress. Additionally, it appears that there is now a new obstacle within their inner circle.
"Our beloved fans from all corners of the world, we, the family of Julie and the Phantoms, would like to express our deepest gratitude and love for the overwhelming support you have showered upon us since our premiere. It saddens us to share that Netflix has decided not to renew our show for another season. However, we carry on with immense pride for the remarkable achievements we made as a team and the bond we forged while bringing Julie to life."
"We sincerely hope that you will continue to accompany us on our journey as we explore new avenues in our work and careers. May this holiday season bring you joy, good health, and an abundance of love and success in all your endeavors! With heartfelt appreciation, Kenny, the cast, writers, producers, creative minds, BC Crew, and our dedicated Netflix team!"
Daybreak, a post-apocalyptic series set in Glendale, California, gained a strong online following when it debuted in October 2019. Like Julie and the Phantoms, this comic series adaptation used humor to tell the story of a diverse group of high school students navigating the end of the world. However, just one month after its release, co-creator Aron Coleite sadly confirmed that Daybreak would not be continuing.
