Divorce can become complicated and transform former partners into adversaries, especially when children are involved. Usher expressed his sentiments about his ex-wife Tameka Foster during a 2012 interview on Oprah's Next Chapter, stating that their disagreement had caused their friendship to deteriorate, leaving him puzzled and unable to revert back to the close bond they once shared.
Following a grueling legal battle against Foster for the custody of their two sons, Usher, the renowned singer of the hit song "Burn," found himself in tears on the witness stand in May 2012. The trial became a platform for accusations of infidelity and neglect towards his children, made by the stylist's attorney. Eventually, Usher confessed to being unfaithful during their two-year marriage.
After enduring nearly three years of intense legal drama, a judge finally granted Usher primary custody of their two boys in August 2012. In an interview with Hollywood Unlocked, Foster expressed her hopes of one day repairing her relationship with her ex-husband.
"He and I have a cordial relationship and we co-parent effectively. Although we are not friends, I wish we were. I miss having him as my friend because he was my closest companion even before anything romantic. He's like a close friend to me. We get along well," she expressed in an interview conducted in 2021.
While the singer of "U Remind Me" eventually found happiness by welcoming his daughter Sovereign and son Sire with his girlfriend Jenn Goicoechea in 2020 and 2021, respectively, there are other celebrities who are still battling for custody.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been embroiled in a legal battle since Jolie initiated divorce proceedings in September 2016. As they continue to negotiate a custody agreement for their six children, including Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox, Pitt has reportedly become increasingly frustrated with Jolie's tactics. According to an insider, it is evident to him that Jolie is intentionally prolonging and obstructing the process. Despite this, Pitt remains committed to working with his legal team to file necessary paperwork and address Jolie's claims, even though months pass with no resolution due to ongoing legal obstacles and disputes between their lawyers.
According to a source, the actor known for his role in Fight Club has been keeping a low profile to manage the stress brought on by the conflict. The insider disclosed that Brad has been spending most of his time at home, occasionally finding solace in his art studio.

He admitted that their friendship was shattered and he doubted if they could ever reconcile. Usher became emotional while testifying in court during his custody battle with Foster in May 2012. During a 2021 interview with Hollywood Unlocked, Foster expressed her hope for a renewed friendship with her ex-husband, despite their past legal battles. She emphasized their ability to co-parent effectively and maintain a cordial relationship, while also expressing her longing for the friendship they once shared.

Kim Zolciak-Biermann and Kroy Biermann
They ended their relationship in May 2023, and since then, the former stars of The Real Housewives of Atlanta have been engaged in a custody battle over their underage children. These include Kroy "KJ" Jr., who was born in 2011, Kash, born in 2012, and twins Kaia and Kane, born in 2013. Additionally, Biermann has also adopted Zolciak-Biermann's daughters from her previous marriage to Daniel Toce, namely Brielle and Ariana, born in 1997 and 2001, respectively. In his divorce petition, the retired linebacker expressed his desire for both temporary and permanent sole legal and physical custody of his four minor children.
Zolciak-Biermann, on the other hand, submitted a motion during that same month, urging for her ex to undergo a drug test. She expressed deep worries about the safety and welfare of her children while they are in the custody of her estranged husband, citing an incident where she claims to have seen him "smoking marijuana."
In response, the former NFL player retaliated by filing new documents, requesting that his ex-partner undergo a psychological evaluation. He pointed out recent and increasingly concerning behavior that he believes has intensified in the months leading up to his decision to file for divorce.
Biermann further alleged that his former spouse has been struggling with a gambling addiction, which has caused significant financial distress for the family and hindered Zolciak-Biermann's ability to adequately provide for their children.

Ant Anstead and Christina Hall
Following their separation in September 2020, the disagreement between the Wheeler Dealers personality and the HGTV star escalated into a heated dispute over the custody of their son, Hudson, who was born in 2019.
In April 2022, Anstead took legal action by filing for full custody, citing his ex-wife's alleged minimal involvement in their son's life, claiming that she had only spent an average of "nine full days each month" with Hudson over the past 20 months. Additionally, Anstead expressed concern over an incident in April 2022 where Hudson returned home with a severe sunburn after being under Hall's care for the day.
Hall expressed her deep sadness over Ant's actions, stating that if the situation truly revolved around Hudson, it should have been resolved privately through a private judge or mediation, as suggested by Hall and her attorney. She emphasized her commitment to being a good mother who loves her children wholeheartedly and will always prioritize their protection.
In response to Anstead's accusations regarding her parenting, the founder of Unbroken Productions refuted them in her own filing. She asserted that the British native was trying to defame her and damage her reputation.
The exes reached an agreement in November 2022, deciding to "continue to have joint legal and joint physical custody" of Hudson.

Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis
After their separation in November 2020, Sudeikis took legal action against Wilde, the star of Ted Lasso, by serving her with custody papers for their two children, Otis and Daisy. This incident occurred during Wilde's presentation for Don't Worry Darling at CinemaCon in April 2022. As she was on stage, a manila envelope labeled "personal and confidential" was handed to her.
Although a source initially stated that Sudeikis did not support the inappropriate way in which Wilde was served, she later claimed that he had intended to humiliate her.
Wilde submitted her own court documents in August, accusing Sudeikis of attempting to intimidate and humiliate her through public means. The Daily Mail obtained the paperwork, which revealed that the former couple had initially agreed for their children, Otis and Daisy, to finish the school year in Los Angeles while Sudeikis filmed the third season of Ted Lasso in London.
In her filing, Wilde stated, "Jason's actions were clearly meant to threaten me and catch me off guard. He had the option to serve me discreetly, but instead, he chose the most aggressive approach." She further expressed her concern about Sudeikis publicly embarrassing her and involving their personal conflict in a manner that goes against their children's best interests. Given that Sudeikis has shown an unwillingness to resolve their issues outside of the court system, Wilde filed a custody petition in Los Angeles.
Sudeikis addressed Wilde's filing, expressing his reluctance to serve her at the residence of her current partner, Harry Styles, as it could potentially disrupt their children. He also expressed concerns about serving her at Otis and Daisy's school, as it may involve other parents being present. The animosity between the former couple persisted into the new year, with the director of Booksmart accusing Sudeikis of deceitful tactics and acting in bad faith during the proceedings.
In the court documents, Wilde alleged that her former partner had been using intimidation or deceitful tactics. She argued that Jason should not be allowed to burden Olivia with debt and then deny her the right to request financial support based on her needs.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline
After filing for divorce in November 2006, Spears sought full custody of her two sons, Sean and Jayden, who were born in 2005 and 2006 respectively. However, when the divorce was eventually settled the next year, both Spears and her ex-husband Federline agreed to share custody of their children equally.
After being placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold in January 2008, the Crossroads actress lost custody of her sons to the "PopoZão" singer. However, in June of the same year, Spears was granted limited visitation rights.
In February 2018, Federline requested an increase in child support payments. A source revealed that Britney was worried about Kevin using his sole custody as a way to prevent her from seeing their children, as a form of revenge for not agreeing to a $40,000 increase in child support.
The legal dispute reached its conclusion in September 2018 when Spears consented to a higher monthly payment of approximately $35,000. In August 2019, the pair modified their custody arrangement, granting the "Circus" singer 30 percent custodial rights.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
The ongoing custody battle between the Mr. and Mrs. Smith costars continues, even years after Jolie initiated the divorce proceedings in 2016. In April 2022, an exclusive source informed Us that the Ad Astra actor had confided in friends about his concerns regarding his ex-wife's reluctance to agree to joint custody. He expressed fears that she would prolong the legal process until their children reached the age of 18. Together, the former couple has six children, with three of them still being minors: Maddox (born in 2001), Pax (born in 2003), Sahara (born in 2005), Shiloh (born in 2006), and Vivienne and Knox (born in 2008).

The custody battle between the Catwoman star and her ex-partner focused on Berry's intention to relocate to France with her then-fiancé, Olivier Martinez, in order to provide a better environment for their daughter, Nahla. The situation took a turn for the worse when Aubry and Martinez engaged in a physical altercation on Thanksgiving Day in 2012. Despite the severity of the incident, no criminal charges were filed against either party involved.
Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry
One week later, the former couple reached a custody agreement, as a judge rejected Berry's plea to permanently move away with Nahla. Berry, known for her role in X-Men, gave birth to her son, Maceo, in 2008, together with Martinez. However, the pair went their separate ways in 2015.

Ciara and Future
In 2016, the singer known for her hit song "Goodies" filed a defamation lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend, a rapper. The lawsuit, seeking $15 million in damages, centered around interviews and a series of negative posts on Twitter. These comments, made by the rapper who hails from Georgia, were directed at Ciara and her then-boyfriend, Russell Wilson.
The following year, the actress from the TV show "The Game" decided to drop the lawsuit against Future, the rapper. Additionally, they reached an agreement for joint custody of their son, Future Jr., after Ciara had initially requested sole custody. In 2016, Ciara and Wilson tied the knot, and in the subsequent years, they joyfully welcomed their daughter Siena in 2017 and their son Win in 2020.

Usher and Tameka Foster
Following a long and heated custody battle that spanned over three years, the R&B singer was granted primary custody of his sons, Usher Jr. and Naviyd, in August 2012. Foster's attorney argued during the trial that Usher had failed to properly care for his children. An insider expressed relief, stating, "It's a relief it's over. An independent party carefully examined the evidence and made the right decision."
The personal stylist filed for an urgent hearing in August 2013 following an incident where Usher Jr. got injured while swimming at his father's residence. She sought temporary custody of their sons, but the judge ultimately granted primary custody to the "My Boo" singer.

Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy
After their marriage in 2010 and subsequent separation in 2012, both ex-partners expressed their desire for primary custody of their daughter, Bryn, when they filed legal documents in 2013. Despite reaching a joint custody agreement the following year, Frankel later took legal action against Hoppy in 2019, seeking full custody.
In January 2017, the former partner of The Real Housewives of New York star was arrested for allegedly making threats towards her during an unplanned visit to Bryn's school. As a result, Hoppy was issued a six-month stay away order from Frankel in October of that year. In the subsequent year, Hoppy's lawyer, Robert Wallack, argued that the passing of Frankel's on-and-off boyfriend, Dennis Shields, had a negative impact on her ability to fulfill her parental responsibilities.
Wallack stated in court that Shields' cause of death was an Oxycodone overdose. While the news of his passing is indeed tragic, it brings into question Ms. Frankel's ability to make responsible decisions as a parent.
In 2020, the founder of Skinnygirl was granted full legal custody of Bryn. However, in December 2021, a judge ruled that she no longer had to provide financial support to her ex-husband as Bryn resided primarily at her residence.

Sherri Shepherd and Lamar Sally
After tying the knot in 2011, the former 30 Rock star and Sally decided to go their separate ways and filed for divorce in May 2014. Despite their break-up, the couple experienced the joy of parenthood when they welcomed their son, Lamar Jr., into the world in August 2014 through a surrogate. It is worth noting that Shepherd, though not biologically related to the child, initially expressed a desire to have her name removed from his birth certificate.
In December 2016, Sally, who has been raising Lamar Jr. as a single father, requested an increase in child support payments. However, her request was denied by a judge.
