Highlights
A significant update has been implemented for Lies of P, specifically targeting the game's difficulty concerns. This update introduces various balance adjustments, including an extended period for staggering opportunities and reduced health points for field enemies, as well as three boss encounters.
The update includes refinements to drop rates and item weights, along with enhancements to in-game controller compatibility for Windows users using Dualshock and Dualsense controllers. Although the full effects of these changes may necessitate additional testing, the initial feedback towards the update has been largely positive. However, there are still players who express a desire for further adjustments, particularly regarding the timing of perfect guarding.
Lies of P has recently received a significant update to make traversing Krat a bit more manageable. Difficulty is a touchy subject in the Soulslike community, and Lies of P is no exception, with many agreeing that it is one of the more challenging games in its genre.
Like most Soulslike games, Lies of P has a default difficulty setting. Apart from searching for upgrade materials, summoning Specters for boss battles, and patiently farming Ergo to level up, players must master the art of dodging, guarding, and staggering in order to progress. This Pinocchio-inspired game has proven to be a tough challenge even for experienced Soulslike players, thanks in part to its precise parrying mechanics. Additionally, the immense health pools of the two-phase bosses have left players struggling. Thankfully, it seems that the developers have taken note of these difficulties.
The Lies of P Twitter account has announced the release of the latest update, version 1.2.0.0, on Steam and PlayStation platforms. However, the Xbox versions are currently undergoing testing and have not yet been released. The patch notes primarily focus on balance changes, including an extended "staggerable window time" for field enemies and decreased HP. Health reductions have also been implemented for three boss fights, each featuring two separate health bars. Only the final boss has experienced a decrease in damage, while Specters now have increased health and damage.
In Lies of P, certain amulets were found to be heavier than weapons. As a result, their weight has been lowered. Another significant change is in regards to the Capacity attribute, which now provides a greater increase to the maximum weight for each point invested in it. Drop rates for several items have been boosted, except for Star Fragments, which are now less likely to be rewarded. Additionally, Windows OS users can now utilize in-game support for Dualshock and Dualsense controllers, allowing access to the PlayStation UI.
Although it will be unclear how significant many of these changes are without testing and crunching numbers, the initial response has been seemingly positive, except for some individuals who prefer everything to remain unchanged. One of the main criticisms revolves around the timing required for perfect guarding, which is considered somewhat unforgiving, particularly when certain attacks can only be countered with it. Although this issue has not been addressed in this patch, the decrease in HP will likely be well-received by many players. Current achievement data indicates that the majority of players have yet to defeat the King of Puppets, suggesting that the developers aimed to make the difficulty spike more manageable.
