The Price For Sora's Abuse of Power

The theory suggesting that Sora may lose his memory in Kingdom Hearts 4 stems from the endings of the two most recent titles in the series. In Kingdom Hearts 3's Re:Mind DLC, Sora is lost after using the Power of Waking, while at the end of Melody of Memory, Riku is sent to the World of Fiction. This leaves Sora in a state of uncertainty, as his ultimate fate and the situation in Quadratum, where he finds himself, are not immediately clear to the player.

Considering that Sora's current exile is a result of his misuse of the Power of Waking, it would make sense for the Kingdom Hearts world to punish him by erasing his memories along with his strength. However, a memory-wiped Sora would likely prioritize saving others and removing them from harm's way instead of immediately jumping into battle.

Additionally, Sora's summoning of his Keyblade is noteworthy. He never looks at the weapon while calling it into his hands. In the past, individuals unaware of their ability to summon the Keyblade would be alarmed by its sudden appearance. However, Sora is aware of his summoning ability and even employs it in new, unfamiliar ways that he had only witnessed at the conclusion of Kingdom Hearts 3.

The theory proposes an intriguing thought experiment, suggesting that Riku might face additional challenges in rescuing Sora from Quadratum. The multiple memory wipes experienced by Roxas have played a significant role in the series, including poignant moments such as Sora shedding tears in his stead upon leaving Twilight Town.
