Three individuals, including two minors, were apprehended following the discovery of numerous 3D-printed weapons within a Manhattan day care facility, as announced by officials from New York City on Wednesday. These arrests occurred approximately two weeks after the tragic death of a 1-year-old boy, believed to be a result of fentanyl exposure, and the subsequent overdose of two other children at a day care center in the Bronx.
The Manhattan operation functions as a family day care center within a residential setting, similar to the day care center in the Bronx, stated Christina Chang, the executive deputy commissioner and chief program officer at the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene.
As part of an ongoing investigation into the production and illegal trade of privately-made firearms, the police conducted three search warrants at the day care center on Tuesday. Rebecca Weiner, the deputy commissioner of intelligence and counterterrorism Bureau at the New York City Police Department, informed reporters about this development.
