Shocking Allegations of Racial Abuse Surface After Birmingham's Victory over Huddersfield - Juninho Bacuna Speaks Out

Racial abuse halts Birmingham vs Huddersfield match as Juninho Bacuna reports incident; Teammate Tom Edwards confirms hearing the abuse; Birmingham owner vows lifetime ban for the supporter

Manager John Eustace expressed strong disapproval of the reported racist insults directed towards midfielder Juninho Bacuna during Birmingham's emphatic 4-1 triumph over Huddersfield.

In the latter stages of the second half, referee Sam Allison halted the game and approached Eustace and Terriers' counterpart Darren Moore after the incident was brought to his attention by players on the pitch.

Eustace expressed his belief that one of their fans racially abused Bacuna, which he found to be repulsive, after his team emerged victorious with goals from Siriki Dembele, Koji Miyoshi, and Jordan James.

The incident is completely unexpected, especially in our society and particularly in the world of football. Birmingham takes great pride in our diversity as a club and as a city, and such behavior is absolutely unacceptable.

The situation is highly disheartening. They have filed a report, and this behavior is completely unjust.

Birmingham stated that the incident would be documented in the match report by the official and the club would provide assistance to the FA, the EFL, and the authorities as needed.

Additionally, Birmingham affirmed its complete support for Juninho and expressed that there is no place for racism in the sport.

The club owner, Tom Wagner, pledged to permanently ban the supporter involved in the incident. He acknowledged that during the game against Huddersfield Town, our player Juninho Bacuna courageously reported being subjected to racial abuse by an individual in Arthur's Area at St. Andrew's. Discovering that such behavior exists, particularly in the family section of our home ground, is deeply disheartening. Additionally, Tom Edwards, a player from Huddersfield, corroborated hearing the racial slur directed at Juninho.

The officials have been promptly alerted and I want to acknowledge and thank Juninho and Tom for their courage in speaking up against this unacceptable behavior. It is important to emphasize that we strongly condemn anyone who thinks that making racially motivated comments is acceptable. Such actions should have no place, neither in football nor in society.

We are fully committed to collaborating with the West Midlands Police to ensure that appropriate measures are taken and that the individual responsible is brought to justice. Furthermore, we will impose a lifelong ban on this individual, preventing them from attending any future games.

Birmingham City Football Club takes a strong stance against all forms of discrimination. We have a strict zero-tolerance policy in place, and anyone who engages in such behavior will not be welcomed at St. Andrew's. We will not allow the misconduct of a sole individual to tarnish the reputation of our esteemed club. Birmingham City Football Club exemplifies the diversity and pride of the city it represents, and we stand together in unity against discrimination, prepared to provide support whenever necessary.

Huddersfield manager Moore expressed disappointment about the incident, noting that it will cast a shadow over the game tonight. He acknowledged that Birmingham gained valuable points, but the incident will steal the spotlight.

The referee halted the game and summoned both managers. He informed them about an incident involving a home spectator who directed inappropriate comments at a home player in the corner. Although the home player was reluctant to report it, our player, Tom Edwards, heard it clearly. Both players confirm their witness to the incident, and it has been officially recorded.

Video evidence is available, and we will leave it to the footballing authorities, referee, and match officials to investigate and reach a conclusion.

"It's not something we condone in the game, but it's still there and we show our support."
