Manchester United forward Antony once again refuted allegations on social media regarding the assault of his ex-girlfriend, which resulted in his exclusion from the Brazil squad. On Monday, Brazilian media outlet UOL released new claims made by Gabriela Cavallin.
Antony took to Instagram in June to address false accusations made by Ms Cavallin regarding domestic violence.
Amidst additional allegations on Monday, Antony expressed his confidence in ongoing police investigations to ultimately uncover the truth concerning his innocence.
Manchester United has chosen to remain silent following the recent allegations, relying on Antony's initial statement from June 28. Subsequently, Antony has taken to social media to issue a second denial.
I confidently state that the accusations against me are baseless, as the evidence presented clearly demonstrates my innocence.
Although my relationship with Ms. Gabriela was characterized by tumultuousness and verbal altercations from both parties, I vehemently deny ever engaging in any form of physical aggression.
I have faith that the ongoing police investigations will ultimately prove my innocence.
On Monday evening, the Brazilian FA announced that Antony had been removed from the squad for September's World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru. He was subsequently replaced by Gabriel Jesus.
