Kyle Lafferty, the Northern Ireland international with 85 caps, has made a return to Scottish football by signing a two-year contract with Johnstone Burgh, a seventh-tier club. Lafferty had been released from Kilmarnock earlier this year due to disciplinary issues.

Prior to that he was handed a 10-game SFA ban for using sectarian language last October.

After leaving Scotland, Lafferty joined Linfield. However, he struggled to find the back of the net in eight matches and did not receive an extension on his short-term contract. Prior to this, the 35-year-old had experienced success at Rangers, winning three league titles between 2008 and 2011, along with a Scottish Cup and two League Cup titles.

Lafferty departed from Kilmarnock in February. Additionally, he played an integral role in Kilmarnock's triumph in the Championship during the 2021-22 season.
