Sharna Burgess courageously addresses unfair backlash over son's unique hairstyle, emphasizing the importance of open-mindedness and individual expression Discover how she tackles criticism alongside Brian Austin Green in raising their son, Zane, with long hair

Sharna Burgess has received criticism regarding her son Zane's long hair, particularly after she tied his hair up in a top knot. Taking to Instagram Story, the 38-year-old Dancing With the Stars pro addressed the backlash, revealing that she has received strongly negative messages in her direct messages. One comment even pointed out the fact that Zane's hair tie was pink.

She continued, expressing her confusion and frustration with societal stereotypes related to the color pink and long hair. To her, wearing a pink hair tie doesn't hold any symbolic meaning. She also questioned the notion that long hair is exclusively associated with femininity or being for girls, citing examples such as Jason Momoa, who is known for his attractive long hair. Wanting to emphasize her point, she mentioned her intention to create an Instagram post showcasing attractive men, the majority of whom have long hair, to challenge these stereotypes.

Additionally, Burgess highlighted the irony of romance novel covers predominantly featuring men with flowing locks, further questioning why these biases are seen as harmless when it comes to children. She expressed her frustration, finding the entire situation to be absurd and unintelligent.

Burgess, who is in a relationship with Brian Austin Green and is a mother to their 12-month-old son, recently answered fan questions about various topics. One fan even asked if Burgess plans to let her son Zane grow his hair long like his brothers. Green, who is also a father to Kassius, 21, with ex Vanessa Marcil, and Noah, 10, Bodhi, 9, and Journey, 6, with ex-wife Megan Fox, has been open about embracing his sons' gender expressions. This includes allowing them to have long hair and wear traditionally girls' clothing.

Burgess unequivocally expressed her support for Zane's decision to grow out his adorable baby hair on Thursday. Concluding her passionate statement, the ballroom dancer shared her annoyance towards individuals who exhibit ignorance and narrow-mindedness through their thoughtless comments.

Green and Fox, who went their separate ways in 2020 and have since moved on with Burgess and Machine Gun Kelly, respectively, bravely confronted critics last month when they were wrongly accused of compelling their sons to wear girls' clothing.

"Do not, under any circumstances, exploit children as a means to acquire wealth, power, success, or fame. This includes using their gender identity for attention in political campaigns. Such actions place you on the wrong side of the universe," Fox expressed on Instagram in June.

Amidst the social media controversy, Green faced accusations of being a "bad father" for allegedly forcing his children to dress in a specific manner. Dismissing these claims, he addressed the issue on an Instagram Story, saying, "People who attack others they've never even met have lost their minds. It is morally unacceptable. As a society, let us strive to do better for the sake of future generations."

Green and Fox have diligently collaborated to ensure successful co-parenting of their children Noah, Bodhi, and Journey.

"In life, people often underestimate the impact their actions have on their children. No matter what we do, it will have an effect on them," he exclusively revealed to We in March during a joint interview with Burgess. "The only thing we can truly control is how our choices affect our children, and thankfully, Megan and I have excelled at that. Megan and Sharna have an exceptional relationship."

Burgess emphasized, "Our focus should not be on ourselves or the adults. Instead, it should solely revolve around what is in the best interest of them, every single time. Creating a positive bond, ensuring harmony among us, and genuinely considering their emotions and desires are what truly benefits them."
