Serene Russell is supporting fellow Bachelor Nation member Rachel Nance after she faced racist hate following her appearance on season 28.

In an Instagram Story post on Tuesday, March 19, Serene, 28, expressed her sadness over the situation. She mentioned how challenging it is to navigate the public eye and process everything that comes with it. To add to that, dealing with racial and cultural attacks only makes it more difficult. Serene highlighted the struggle of sharing personal thoughts and feelings knowing that the world will see them, especially in a time where prejudice still exists in 2024.

Serene made her debut on Clayton Echard’s season 26 of The Bachelor and later got engaged to now-ex Brandon Jones on season 8 of Bachelor in Paradise. She expressed her pride in Rachel, 26, for bravely speaking out on a significant issue that has overshadowed her entire experience.

Serene emphasized the importance of addressing the issue to promote learning and support Rachel in her healing process. She also reminded everyone that Rachel is more than just the hurtful words directed at her, and expressed her sympathy for Rachel and her loved ones. Serene believes that no one should have to endure such treatment.

Serene reposted a clip of Rachel from the Women Tell All on Monday, March 18. Rachel became emotional during the episode while talking about the racist hate she received after Joey Graziadei gave her a rose over Maria Georgas.

Rachel tearfully shared, "As soon as the episode aired, I started receiving a lot of hateful messages. People were making racist comments towards me, using the N-word, and calling me Jungle Asian, all because I got a rose. It has been incredibly frustrating for me."

After the Women Tell All taping, we caught up with Rachel to ask her about the backlash.

Rachel explained, "During those ceremonies, we are all exhausted and feeling the pressure. Maria and I were actually on good terms - we even shared a kiss when I left. I believe her question was valid. We were all nervous, and it's understandable why she wanted to have a private conversation with him. It's unfortunate that I faced criticism for it, but I stand by my words. Maria was okay with how I handled the situation."

After fantasy suite week, Rachel didn’t receive a rose from Joey, making his final two contestants Kelsey Anderson and Daisy Kent.

The Bachelor concludes on ABC Monday, March 25, at 8 p.m. ET.
