Serena Williams is raising some eyebrows with an unconventional sunburn hack involving her breast milk.

"Is this completely strange?" 42-year-old Williams questioned in the caption of her Sunday, December 3rd TikTok video. "After a week of using MY breast milk under my eye, I have to admit - it worked! What do you think? Please be kind lol."

In the video, Williams concluded her skincare routine and shared with her followers the reason for adding this unconventional step.

"After getting a bad burn under my eye, it's a long story, but I was using retinol to clear my skin and ended up with a sunburn because of my sensitive skin. Anyway, I'm experimenting with using breast milk," Williams explained as she poured breast milk onto a cloth and applied it under her eye. "It works for my baby, they say you can use breast milk for everything, and I have plenty to spare so I'm going to give it a try for a week and see how it goes."

Almost instantly, Williams felt some relief.

“It already feels better because, like, it hurts,” she explained. “I’ll let you guys know how it goes.”

Fans refrained from criticizing her skincare routine but did suggest some alternative methods. One comment recommended using organic castor oil to eliminate dark circles and promote healing at the same time. Another fan advised applying castor oil under the eyes to reduce dark spots, cautioning against the use of retinol.

According to Williams, the breast milk came from her personal supply. She has two daughters with her husband Alexis Ohanian: 6-year-old Olympia and 3-month-old Adira. Williams recently shared that Olympia already enjoys being a big sister.

"She's handling it," she informed Entertainment Tonight last month. "Adira is just a little baby, so Olympia refers to her as her little sis."

Prior to Adira's arrival, Williams shared, "Olympia had prayed for a sister. She's thrilled with how everything turned out."

The professional tennis player confessed that she had concerns before the birth of her second child. "I was thinking, 'I don't know if I can love anyone as much as I love Olympia,'" Williams explained. "I was really worried about that. But I think everything turned out okay."

Since becoming a mother, Williams has been open about her mental health, sharing in 2018 that she faced challenges with "postpartum emotions."

"Last week was a challenge," revealed Williams on Instagram after withdrawing from the Rogers Cup. "Not only was I dealing with some difficult personal matters, but I was also feeling down. Most of all, I felt like I wasn't being a good mom."

Just last month, the Olympian told fans she was “not OK” in a candid social media post shared via X (formerly Twitter).

“That’s ok to not be ok. No one is ok every single day,” Williams wrote at the time. “If you are not ok today I’m with you. There’s always tomorrow. Love you.”
