Sequel to First 'Five Nights at Freddy’s' Movie in Development

Following the triumph of the first movie, the highly anticipated sequel, Five Nights at Freddy's 2, is now confirmed to be in development

The Five Nights at Freddy’s film was a massive hit worldwide, and there are now reports that FNAF 2 is in the works. Released just before Halloween, the movie not only broke the Blumhouse box office record but also outperformed its competitors.

The official synopsis of the movie states: "A security guard with troubles starts working at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. On his first night, he discovers that the late shift at Freddy's is not going to be easy to survive."

Following the success of the movie, recent reports indicate that a sequel to Five Nights at Freddy's is highly likely. Spoilers ahead...

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 “in the works”

According to reports from The Hollywood Handle, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is officially “in the works,” with Emma Tammi set to return as the director.

The sequel is expected to start production in 2024, although other cast and crew members who might be set to return currently remain unknown.

Both the Five Nights at Freddy's movie and video game franchise provide insight into the potential direction of the story. The movie ends with a cliffhanger involving the Yellow Rabbit, also known as William Afton, who is left to die on the restaurant's kitchen floor. His death remains unconfirmed at the film's conclusion, suggesting that he will likely make a return in some capacity.

Vanessa's storyline is left unfinished after falling into a coma from her father William's attack. Rumors suggest that she may transform into Vanny, a killer persona created by a digital virus called Glitchtrap. From the perspective of the video game, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 should directly follow the original game. This installment introduces Balloon Boy and offers more details about the children's murders through minigames, leading to the revelation of a mysterious figure known as ‘Purple Guy.’

The movie doesn't mention the name Purple Guy, nor the decommissioned characters that are replaced by the end of the game.

Emma Tammi expressed hope for a sequel in an interview with Dexerto, saying, "I'm really hopeful that we'll be able to make a sequel, and should we be able to, I think we would see our animatronics again. But I also think we would have some new friends to meet as well."
