Selma Blair made a stunning appearance at the 2024 Fashion Trust Awards where she decided to leave her cane behind.

The 51-year-old actress walked the red carpet on Tuesday, April 9, without her cane for the first time since her multiple sclerosis went into remission in 2021. She looked absolutely radiant in a double-breasted blazer dress adorned with white and silver buttons and large pockets. Blair completed her look with a stylish shell necklace featuring a gold pendant, a shimmery clutch, a chunky ring, and black and silver pumps.

Blair looked glamorous with her smokey eyeshadow, filled-in eyebrows, pink lips, and rosy cheeks. She styled her blonde hair slicked back at the roots and left it flowing down.

At the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party last month, Blair made a statement by bringing her cane with her. She wore a peachy midi dress with a cutout over her chest, paired with a black bra. Completing her look with sparkly heels, she confidently rocked the A-line frock and black cane.

Blair’s makeup consisted of dark eyeliner and pink lips. She pushed her locks to the side as she smiled for the camera.

Through the years, Blair has been candid about using a cane. In April 2023, she opened up to Vogue about her “emotional and physical attachment” to the walking device.

"I feel more comfortable in my own skin when I hold [it]," she shared with the publication. "I believe it helps others see themselves represented. Many young individuals are now proudly showcasing their differences. I truly believe in the power of representation. If I can help normalize or reduce curiosity in a crowd for someone else, then I consider that a success."

At the 2023 Glamour Women of the Year Awards in November 2023, she gave an update on her health.

She shared with Entertainment Tonight that her health is doing well. She mentioned being in remission since undergoing a bone marrow transplant to halt the MS progression that had been affecting her for many years.

Additionally, she expressed feeling much stronger now and working on building her stamina.

Her decision to leave the cane behind is both a personal triumph and a powerful symbol of hope for others living with chronic illnesses. Blair's journey with MS has been well-documented, and her candidness about her experiences has helped to raise awareness and reduce stigma surrounding the disease.

While Blair's remission is a cause for celebration, it is important to remember that MS is a complex and unpredictable condition. There is no cure, and symptoms can vary widely from person to person. However, Blair's story is a reminder that with the right treatment and support, people with MS can live full and active lives.
