In the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC, on November 12th at approximately 11:58 p.m., a Secret Service agent responsible for the security of Naomi Biden, President Joe Biden's granddaughter, fired shots at individuals who were trying to break into an unoccupied US government vehicle, according to CNN. Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi provided this information in a statement.
The source familiar with the matter confirmed to CNN that the agent assigned to Naomi Biden's detail discharged a service weapon during the encounter, but it is believed that no one was hit. The offenders quickly escaped the scene in a red vehicle, and a regional alert was issued to other units for assistance. It was also stated that there was no threat to any of the Secret Service's protectees. The office of First Lady Dr. Jill Biden chose not to provide any comment on the situation.

According to Guglielmi, the DC Metropolitan Police Department and the Secret Service are currently investigating the incident. The DC Metropolitan Police Department refrained from commenting and directed inquiries to the USSS.
