According to GamesRadar, the showrunners have revealed to SFX magazine that they currently do not have any solid plans or discussions regarding Season 2. Grabinksi and O’Malley have not considered the possibility at this time.
Grabinski expressed his love for the world, cast, and characters of the season, acknowledging that every story must come to an end. However, if given the opportunity, he and Bryan would be open to brainstorming new stories with the cast. Nevertheless, Grabinski emphasized that he dedicated his full focus to this season, believing it has a satisfying conclusion.
O'Malley added that they purposefully crafted a conclusive ending for the anime. He disliked when shows or movies abruptly ended, so he and the team ensured that their creation had a clear and satisfying conclusion. O'Malley viewed their work together as a beautiful piece of jewelry, with everyone contributing to its greatness.
During a roundtable interview at NYCC 2023, Dexerto caught up with O'Malley to discuss his choice to revisit the characters and storyline of Scott Pilgrim.
"It's always been a constant presence in my life. I thought it would eventually fade away, but it never did. Young teens and others keep approaching me, discovering it for the first time. So I feel a responsibility to give back to them, as their excitement continues to grow. The way I can show them love is by creating something that still captures the essence of the original, but with a fresh and exciting twist. It should be funny, silly, emotional, and everything in between," he explained.
