Martin Scorsese, the iconic filmmaker behind hits like Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, The Departed, and The Irishman, is set to take on a new project about Jesus Christ. After premiering his latest film, Killers of the Flower Moon, at Cannes, Scorsese attended the "Global Aesthetics of the Catholic Imagination" conference in Rome, where he reportedly shared his plans for this upcoming project. According to Variety, the director recently had a private audience with Pope Francis alongside his wife, further suggesting that the film is officially in the works.
