Raquel Leviss and Pete Davidson, among others, have faced criticism for their choices in pet ownership. Leviss, who is known for her appearance on the reality show Vanderpump Rules, adopted a dog named Graham Cracker with her then-fiancé James Kennedy during the early stages of their relationship. However, after their split in December 2021, Leviss kept custody of the dog, leading to negative comments from her fellow cast members.
"During a May 2023 interview on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, Ariana Madix revealed that Rachel would often bring over Graham, who she described as being a source of terror. Madix mentioned that he had bitten her in the past and emphasized that Graham was not well-trained and exhibited unpleasant behavior.
In an effort to address Graham's problematic behavior, Leviss decided to enroll him in behavioral classes. However, according to Leviss' mother, Laura Leviss, these attempts were unsuccessful. In July 2023, Laura Leviss claimed that despite working with trainers, Graham's habits persisted, and he even bit her severely, as well as causing harm to the trainers and his new owner."
Davidson, on the other hand, opted to purchase a cavapoo puppy from a pet store in New York City in June 2023. However, this decision received criticism from nonprofit PETA, who believed he should have adopted a rescue pet instead. In response, the former Saturday Night Live cast member left a scathing voicemail expressing his intentions to PETA.
Speaking to TMZ at the time, Davidson shared, "I witnessed my mom and sister inconsolably crying, something I hadn't seen in over 20 years. My aim was to uplift my family's spirits during this difficult time. I was already upset that the store filmed me without my consent or acknowledgment. On top of that, this organization publicly singled us out, intensifying our grieving process. I am upset by the situation. I may have chosen my words poorly, and I regret that. However, I stand by my decision to defend myself and my family."

Raquel Leviss
After Raquel checked herself into a mental health facility in March 2023 due to her involvement with Tom Sandoval, her mother graciously took in Graham. However, the adorable pup unintentionally caused "severe damage" by biting Laura, prompting her to make the difficult decision to send him to California Doodle Rescue for training. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in July 2023, Laura clarified that neither she nor her daughter abandoned Graham and that they only want the very best for him.
Raquel Leviss poses with her dog Graham in a photo shared on her Instagram account. Kennedy, after experiencing multiple unsuccessful attempts to find a new home for Graham, ultimately decided to keep the dog. Sharing the news on Instagram, Kennedy expressed his joy of having Graham back in his life and vowed to provide a lifetime of care and love.
Pete Davidson
Daphna Nachminovitch, PETA's senior vice president of cruelty investigations, expressed her dismay in June 2023 regarding Davidson's decision to purchase a puppy from a store instead of adopting one from an animal shelter. Nachminovitch referred to the situation as "tragic" and urged Pete to demonstrate compassion by choosing adoption over shopping in the future. Given the overwhelming population of homeless animals in New York and nationwide, PETA believes it is crucial for individuals to show empathy towards these animals by adopting them.
Davidson later told TMZ that he was looking for a hypoallergenic breed because of his family’s allergies.
Olivia Wilde
The former nanny of director Olivia Wilde and her ex-fiancé Jason Sudeikis accused Wilde of abandoning her puppy in order to date Harry Styles. Wilde, who ended her relationship with Styles in November 2022, has denied that she left Sudeikis for Styles. In response to the allegations, Mae Day Rescue, an animal rescue in Los Angeles, stated on Instagram in October 2022 that Wilde had adopted the puppy named Gordy when he was 2 months old. After providing him with love, training, and travel adventures, Wilde realized that Gordy was not suited for a life of travel and was not happy around toddlers. The rescue organization further denied the claims and confirmed that Gordy has been placed in a permanent home.
Lisa Vanderpump and Dorit Kemsley
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 9 was sent into a tailspin when Puppygate erupted. In the midst of it all, Kemsley found herself at the center of accusations that she heartlessly abandoned her beloved pup Lucy. As devastating as the allegations were, Kemsley vehemently denies the claims and insists that she made the difficult decision to give Lucy to a trusted friend after the dog bit her children. Surprisingly, it was this very friend who callously left the dog. The fallout from this scandal has left a permanent rift in the friendship between Kemsley and Vanderpump.
"Lisa and I have been friends for quite some time, and we entered this season with that connection," revealed Dorit in an exclusive conversation with Us in February 2019. She added that she felt a sense of betrayal from the owner of SUR. "As the events unfold, it's become clear to me that there are certain things I've become aware of, and the situation has taken unexpected twists and turns."

Kim Kardashian
Kardashian has been accused of housing her family's two Pomeranians, Sushi and Sake, in the garage instead of within her opulent Calabasas mansion. Bringing attention to the situation, her eldest daughter, North, shared a TikTok video in December 2022, showcasing the dogs in the outdoor area that is cordoned off but filled with their toys and Christmas stockings. Despite the allegations, Kardashian has chosen to remain silent on the matter.
Jenelle Evans and David Eason
In March 2019, the husband of the Teen Mom 2 alum, Eason, shot and killed their dog Nugget after the dog allegedly snapped at their daughter Ensley. Us confirmed this incident in April 2019. Eason expressed his strong stance on protecting his family through an Instagram post, stating that he doesn't tolerate any animal biting his child's face, regardless of whether it's their own dog or someone else's. He emphasized that he would go to great lengths, even taking someone's life or sacrificing his own, to safeguard his family. Eason also mentioned that it wasn't the first time the dog had bitten Ensley aggressively and that he alone has the authority to determine if an animal poses a threat to his child.
Evans initially considered ending her marriage, but they were able to work things out after Eason completed an anger management course.
Morgan Wallen
In June 2023, Wallen's son was bitten in the face by Legend, the dog owned by KT Smith, Wallen's former partner from 2017 to 2019. As a result, the 2-year-old required stitches. Consequently, Smith made the decision to find a new home for the dog. Smith voiced her reasoning via her Instagram Story, stating that she couldn't be a responsible mother if she kept a dog in the house while her child continued to be traumatized. She also recognized that she couldn't effectively care for the dog by keeping him muzzled, nor could she be a good mother in general when her child felt frightened of the dog in their home.
Wallen, for his part, did not address the scandal or his son’s injury.

Cheryl Burke and Matthew Lawrence
Following their divorce settlement in 2022, the former Dancing With the Stars contestant and Lawrence reached an agreement. However, Lawrence expressed his intentions to file a lawsuit, seeking custody of their French bulldog, Ysabella. It is worth mentioning that Lawrence had previously given the dog to Burke as a wedding gift.
Expressing her emotions on her podcast, "Burke in the Game," in October 2022, Burke revealed her heartbreak over the situation, asserting her strong bond with Ysabella and referring to herself as a dog mom. She expressed her inability to envision a life without her beloved dog and admitted that the mere thought brought her to tears.
Us confirmed in January 2023 that Burke was awarded all ownership rights to Ysabella with Lawrence agreeing to give up any documentation or data pertaining to the pet.
Kim Zolciak-Biermann
Zolciak-Biermann and her husband, Kroy Biermann, disclosed on an episode of their reality TV show, "Don't Be Tardy," in November 2017 that their son Kroy had suffered a dog bite near his eye from their dog, Sinn.
"I was carrying the leaf blower on my back, and Sinn was already on high alert because he doesn't like it," Kroy recounted the incident, which took place the previous April. "Kash pulled his hands down, and there were multiple lacerations. I couldn't see his eye, just darkness... I knew it was a severe emergency."
Kash was hospitalized for a duration of four days during which he underwent a surgical procedure and had eight stitches. In the event that you are aware of an animal being in immediate peril, kindly contact your local police department or the ASPCA at 844-692-7722.
