Sarah Paulson revealed during an episode of the "Smartless" podcast on May 13 that she was given unsolicited feedback on her acting skills by another performer.
I once did a play called Talley's Folly at the Roundabout. During that time, a talented actress named Trish Hawkins came to watch. Hi, Trish! Hi, Trisha! She had originally played the role that I was now portraying.
The trouble started when Hawkins pointed out the difference in their costumes, saying, "Your dress is yellow. Mine was pink." Two days later, she reached out to me with some notes about my performance.
She mentioned receiving a lengthy email filled with notes and recommendations from someone named Trish Hawkins, regarding a play she had done. The email was so long that it spanned six pages, and she found it to be quite outrageous. Paulson made it clear that she has not forgotten the incident and hopes to never encounter Trish Hawkins again.
Despite the email incident, Paulson has continued to showcase her acting talent on stage. This year, she earned her first Tony nomination for her role in the dramedy "Appropriate," which premiered on Broadway in March. When speaking to The New York Times, she expressed feeling very moved and overwhelmed by the honor.

"I moved to New York when I was just 5 years old. My mother landed a job as a waitress at a theater hangout. So, waking up at 49 to find out I received my first Tony nomination feels incredibly special. It's a dream come true for that little girl in me," she excitedly shared in April.
Paulson emphasized that, while her main focus is always on her work, receiving such a prestigious recognition like a Tony nomination holds a significant place in her heart.
She expressed, "The inner child within me is bursting with joy and excitement this morning as a childhood dream comes true."
The 2024 Tony Awards nominations include the American Horror Story star, along with Betsy Aidem, Jessica Lange, Rachel McAdams, and Amy Adams. The event is scheduled for June 16.
