Sabine's Jaw-Dropping Mandalorian Costume Transformation Unveiled!

Sabine's Mandalorian armor undergoes a transformation in Ahsoka, replacing her previous tribute to Ahsoka with a new tribute to Ezra, marking an intriguing evolution in her character's journey

Summary

Sabine's renowned Mandalorian armor undergoes a significant transformation in its appearance during Ahsoka, as a leather jacket adorned with her uniquely crafted designs seamlessly replaces it, gradually being unveiled towards the conclusion of episode 2.

Sabine's armor in Star Wars Rebels displayed an owl Morai painting as a homage to Ahsoka. However, in Ahsoka, her armor now pays tribute to her presumed deceased close friend Ezra, featuring a painting of a purrgil.

The preservation of Sabine's customized armor in the live-action format emphasizes her ongoing commitment to honoring her bonds and companionships. As she embarks on her Jedi training alongside Ahsoka and aids in the endeavor to rescue Ezra, Sabine's armor serves as a symbol of these enduring connections.

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Ahsoka episodes 1 & 2. In her Ahsoka appearance, Sabine's Mandalorian costume has undergone some changes. Previously, Sabine was always seen in her hand-painted armor in Star Wars Rebels, although she occasionally had to disguise herself when infiltrating Imperial bases. Her Mandalorian armor was not only a crucial part of her appearance but also a reflection of her artistic talents. With her transition to live-action, fans eagerly awaited the unveiling of her new armor and how it would be brought to life.

However, when Sabine first appears in Ahsoka, she is not wearing her iconic Mandalorian armor. Instead, she sports a leather jacket similar to Hera Syndulla's, adorned with the Phoenix logo that she had created, among other things. It is not until the end of Ahsoka episode 2 that her complete armor is revealed. In a heartfelt moment, Sabine lays out each piece of her armor and cuts her grown-out hair to fit under her helmet once again. This presentation allows viewers to closely examine the live-action translation of her armor, revealing a notable difference from its animated counterpart.

Sabine's Mandalorian Armor Previously Had A Tribute To Ahsoka

Sabine's Jaw-Dropping Mandalorian Costume Transformation Unveiled!

In Star Wars Rebels seasons 3 and 4, Sabine paid homage to Ahsoka by adorning her pauldron with a haunting depiction of the owl Morai. It was believed that Ahsoka perished while battling Darth Vader on Malachor, and the Morai painting became Sabine's way of commemorating their lost comrade and staunch ally. The poignancy of this act is further amplified by the knowledge that Sabine later underwent Jedi training under Ahsoka's guidance, strengthening their bond in ways unimaginable. Nonetheless, the metamorphosis undergone by this fragment of armor carries an even more profound emotional weight.

Sabine's Armor Now Has A Tribute To Ezra

According to Jbandos on Twitter, Ahsoka's pauldron in the show "Ahsoka" has been repainted with a purrgil in honor of Ezra. Both Ezra and Grand Admiral Thrawn were taken away by the purrgil during the liberation of Lothal and were presumed dead, much like Ahsoka. The strong bond between Sabine and Ezra from "Star Wars Rebels" has been emphasized in episodes 1 and 2 of Ahsoka, and this costume change takes it a step further. Sabine has been mourning the loss of Ezra, making it difficult for her to put on her customized armor again.

If Ezra is found by the end of Ahsoka, it would be interesting to see if Sabine adds any other tributes to her pauldron. It is surprising that she hasn't already added a tribute to Kanan Jarrus, who tragically died in "Star Wars Rebels" - at least, not that viewers know of. Nonetheless, it is satisfying to witness how Sabine treats her armor consistently, whether in animation or live-action, by updating the paintings and adapting her iconic haircut to fit her helmet. In "Ahsoka," Sabine will continue to rely on her armor as she trains to become a Jedi and aids Ahsoka in her quest to bring Ezra back home.
