An investigation is underway into the deadly police shooting of an Alabama man, Tyler Goodson, who was known for his involvement in the well-known podcast "S-Town." The 32-year-old was fatally shot after a confrontation with law enforcement at his residence in Woodstock on Sunday, as reported by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Woodstock Police Department officers responded to a call for service at a residence shortly after midnight, as reported by ALEA. The reason for the call to the home is not specified.
Upon arrival, officers found Goodson barricaded inside the residence, leading to a standoff, according to the statement.
At some point during the incident, authorities said that Goodson displayed a gun at officers. He was shot and later pronounced dead, according to the ALEA statement.
"I understand that everyone is seeking answers and information, including myself. Tyler was well-known and beloved by myself, his family, and this community. This love goes beyond our area due to the S-Town podcast," stated Woodstock Mayor Jeff Dodson.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has taken over the investigation. According to a previous report by CNN, the 2017 podcast "S-Town" follows the story of John B. McLemore, involving murder, money, outcasts, and mystery in Woodstock.
