Ryan Reynolds Surprises Fans with a 'Revived' Version of His Underrated Film

Ryan Reynolds and Amy Smart reunite after 18 years for a delightful 'sequel' to their underrated rom-com, Just Friends Get ready for a heartwarming blast from the past as the beloved duo takes us on a nostalgic and hilarious journey

Ryan Reynolds is well-acquainted with stealing the spotlight, as evidenced by his recent creation of a "sequel" to one of his highly underrated films. As a beloved actor in both the Deadpool franchise and Welcome to Wrexham, Reynolds captivates fans on and off the screen, consistently delivering exactly what they desire.

Reynolds, known for his extensive filmography, has had some movies go unnoticed, with 2005 comedy Just Friends being a prime example. Often regarded as one of the most underrated comedies of the 2000s, Reynolds has now collaborated with his former co-star Amy Smart to reenact the Thanksgiving scene for a promotional spot for Aviation Gin.

Ryan Reynolds makes “sequel” to Just Friends

Ryan Reynolds and Just Friends costar Amy Smart have teamed up for a “sequel” skit to the 2005 comedy.

The movie first aired 18 years ago, and its official synopsis describes the story of high school student Chris Brander (played by Ryan Reynolds) who is deeply in love with his best friend Jamie Palamino (played by Amy Smart). After finally confessing his feelings to her, Jamie rejects him and expresses her desire to remain friends. Overwhelmed with shame, Chris decides to leave town.

Ten years have passed, and Chris has achieved great success as a record executive, currently in a relationship with the self-centered pop star Samantha James (played by Anna Faris). Despite his involvement with Samantha, Chris still yearns for Jamie. When his intended holiday plans to go to Paris don't materialize, he decides to return to his hometown with the hope of winning Jamie's affection.

As part of the reunion skit, Amy and Ryan play the roles of a family celebrating Thanksgiving at home, but their immersion in the scene is disrupted by the presence of a green screen backdrop.

One fan expressed their desire for a sequel to the movie, Just Friends, stating that it would not be complete without the song "I Swear" being sung again. The comment was made in response to a YouTube clip on Reynolds' channel titled Just Friendsgiving. Another fan mentioned that watching Just Friends has become a Christmas tradition in their household and they enjoyed seeing the actors reunited. A third commenter suggested expressing gratitude towards Ryan Reynolds this Thanksgiving.
